Isn't it meant to be based on a real show.. Yeah. There really was a guy nicknamed "Superman" who performed in Havana nightclubs.

I wonder what ever became of superman. He escaped Cuba during the Muriel boat lift. He floated on his back, and in an excited state he put a sheet on his "member" and thus became his own sailboat. He came to the U.S., went into politics and became the vice president of the current administration. He's now known as the biggest prick in America.

I wonder what ever became of superman. According to a recent book on Mob activities in Havana, the real Superman performed in a Havana club called the Shanghai. Supposedly he was gay  . There were countless imitators until Castro took over. A guy I worked with who grew up in Miami played in his high school band. As a graduation reward, the school sprang for a weekend in Havana for the band. The guy told me, "As soon as we got off the boat, a whole buncha touts came up to us and whispered, "Great show, just like Superman..."
