Sorry if this is the wrong section for this type of post but its my first.

When I went to the spot where they filmed Vito being shot in the first film it did not bear any resemblance what so ever. Nothihng at all like other spots where the film had been made. It was all china town.

I live in London but visited NY in march. Took aload of pics in the lower eastside and when comapring them to the godfather. Found this...

Welcome to the boards!

The area known as Little Italy has changed drastically in the 35+ years since "The Godfather" was filmed there. While a lot of the tenement buildings remain, they have changed in appearance somewhat, but the major change, as you had stated, is the influx of Asians overtaking the old Italian area.

It's a little hard to tell from the two photos since the picture on the right is kind of "smooshed" (it's not the same width as the first picture), BUT it does look like the exact same block.
