I just stumbled across this interview on Youtube. It's from early 2003, just prior to Winegardner writing those horrible books. For some reason, I'd never seen it before. It seems there's a LOT of bad blood between Coppola and Paramount. I wouldn't hold my breath on a Part 4.

dontomasso - wanted to reply to ur info from the Youtube interview - bad blood - huh...So it means no Part 4, right? What is copyright for movies? I know books quite well, but nothing about movies. Does Coppola have a written agreement with Paramount that he is the only one who can produce Godfather sequels? What about M. Puzo? How did he weigh in on the scene before he died? Is Paramount the only studio that has the rights to his books? C where i'm goin w/this? Maybe another producer can get in on the act, or is it just hot air that we hope for some sequels?

Read the Puzo book, but cant remember much about it - are the movies pretty close to the material in the book? It was a HUGE book - took me a long x to get thru it. You are right about Winegardner - no one can do what MPuzo started. He just had a classic, and that's all there is to it. I cant imagine anyone coming along with something better. Dont waste my x reading bad books - want the best ones and want movies to be made that honor the intent of the text! Ciao buenos libros, y buenos cinemas

It helps to get rid of the bad blood orange

Ugh, that video clip was hard to watch because it sounded like FFC and Puzo were gung-ho and Paramount had cold feet.

Without Puzo I feel like FFC has buried this franchise with him and is just out to drag others name through the mud for doubting him. The man has a massive ego, and thats to be expected, but like they said in the clip, it's also his biggest flaw and why he hasn't directed a good film in 20-30 years.

I'd love to read a book about the details surrounding FFC and Puzo's discussions about Part IV, what it would have been like, and how Paramount shot it down.

Write a book, FFC!
