In one of the last scenes of GF II we see Connie come out and tell Anthony that Michael wants him to go with him on his trip....to Reno I think, anyways.....we see Connie walk back into the house with lil Anthony and Al and Fredo push off for fishing.....we then see them get set to fish, with Michael looking on.....of course we all know what happens next.....BANG......and from the looks of it, Michael sees everything.....My question is.....How cold Connie or Anthony not hear that gun shot???
They were in the house getting ready for the trip, how could Connie not hear that??? Or did she?? confused confused
lol lol lol lol lol lol

What they don't mention is that Neri & Fredo actually paddled up into Canada! wink

Seriously, I think it was nearly dusk when Neri shot Fredo. The assumption implied was that Tony & Connie were long gone by then.

Well actually it is stranger because the pretext is that Michael wants to take Anthony to Reno "right now." But then Michael doesnt go to Reno, he watches out the window. Maybe he ended up sending Connie and Anthony to Reno.

It does appear to be later (darker) when Al stands up in the boat after shooting Fredo. An hour may have passed which would have been plenty of time to clear Connie and Anthony out of the compound.

There are a bevy of oddities in the Trilogy that don't make common sense. How about killing Carlo in front of witnesses, having him kickout the front window, and then maybe driving around with him like that?

It's a good question about the "shot". Fredo's murder took place soon after Connie's appearance. That was the reason for getting Anthony out of the way. My question is why would Michael have his brother murdered at his home when he had the entire state of Nevada in which to have him murdered.

Many questions on the board relate to an event that doesn't seem logical. I think we sometimes forget that this is a movie and that some things have an artistic or story motive. The movie would be dull if everything was logical.

It reminds me of when a person says that the only good art is a painting that looks like the real thing. Monet captured light and color. Coppola did the same. They both created masterpieces.

Fredo wasn't that dumb, he could've detected that something's wrong, if Michael ordered him to go to the desert with Al Neri. Fredo probably felt more at ease in Michael's house.

There are a million scenarios that would not prompt the least bit of suspicion on any one's part that would have removed Fredo's murder to a more benign location. Besides, there is no indication in GFII that Fredo considered fratricide a possibility.

Mary, you have a good point. But, one thing I don't understand is your reference to a "movie". This stuff's not made up - it really happened.

I always thought it was strange that he dind't kill him in the Book but killed him in the movie, I wouldn't think that Puzo and FFC would want the audience to think Michael was so cold hearted that he would kill his own brother, Italian families are so close knitt, but then again all throughout the history of the Mafia there are stories of men killing best friends and relatives if the reasons are right....

Puzo was very much against the whole thing. It was FFC's idea, and not one of his brightest.
