Can anyone remind me what the Corleone family are actually into?

- Gambling is one vice

What else are they into?

extortion. if anybody needs help they come to Don Vito Corleone. therefore, from then on, the family be asking them for protection money. also, somehow they are in some part of the labor unions too i believe.. and in the legitamate business, if im not mistaken, i think they also run some part of the real estate.

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

Now we have the unions, we have the gambling, and they're the best things to have.--

And they had politicians and judges in their pockets (as well as at least one US Senator and at least Congressmen who were paisan as well as at least one "jew congressman" from outside the district) like so many nickels and dimes.
They also had journalists and police scehdule makers on the payroll.

I imagine they ran the numbers racket, and bookmaking. They also made a lot of money by using their influence to allow the other families to run their prostitution and other rackets without police interference.

Was it extra virgin? And did they really sell much olive oil or was Genco more of a front?

Extra virgin means that she not only has never had sex, but never even thought about sex.

Actually, olives are pressed to make oil about 24 hours after they are picked. If they are plus their level of acid content makes them extra virgin, etc.

They were definitely intl bookmaking cos does'nt Vito tell Tom to set up Carlo Rizzo with a bookmaking operation when he marries Connie!
Enough to earn a living...but nothing of any real importance within the family!

Well according to the book (And Roth makes a small referrance in Part II), Roth and Vito used the trucks from Genco Olive Oil to import liquor during the prohibition era.

"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."
