Had this published in the paper last Christmas. Enjoy All-:)

A Look Back At Christmas

(We see Santa and Mrs. Claus in their beautiful home in the North Pole. Mrs. Claus is wrapping the fruitcake).

Santa: Re-gifting? No. No. No. How could you re-gift?

Mrs. Claus: Everybody re-gifts the fruitcake. A lot of people don’t have money this year which is why they re-gift. I’m doing it because we both hate fruitcake.

Santa: Christmas shouldn’t be about money.

Mrs. Claus: Unfortunately, it has gone corporate.

Santa: Yeah, I know. Remember that year I had to fly the sleigh with that big Wal-Mart poster on it.

Mrs. Claus: Come on Santa. We like Wal-Mart now that they’ve decided to say Merry Christmas again.

Santa: I know. Hey, I love all the stores. It’s just that there seems to be more and more stores wherever you go. Everything is too crowded.

Mrs. Claus: Not just stores but more malls and housing units. Everyday more trees are cut down and more animals have no place to go.

Santa: Overpopulation. Overpopulation means a bigger sleigh and we’ve already cut enough into the reindeer budget. Last year I was stuck with just Prancer and Blitzen and those two never shut up.

Mrs. Claus: Who would have thought Rudolph would take his 401k and go south?

Santa: The world is changing. Remember when the elves sued me for calling them “little people.”

Mrs. Claus: Well, you did offend their delicate

Santa: Everyone is so touchy nowadays.

Mrs. Claus: Maybe we should retire and go on a cruise.

Santa: Forget that. I’ve seen Titanic.

Mrs. Claus: It’s different now.

Santa: Yeah, now you end up with food poisoning. Thank you, no.

Mrs. Claus: I don’t think you should go out this Christmas with that attitude.

Santa: I don’t need to. Every corporation uses my likeness to sell more products. I’m being pimped out.

Mrs. Claus: You are still so handsome. If only the real world could see you as I do.

Santa: It’s bad enough people think I look like the Coca-Cola Santa.

Mrs. Claus: The what?

Santa: I told you I watched my biography on A and E and the world associates my likeness with an old Coca-Cola add picture. I used to be St. Nick and now I’m some fat guy in a suit.

Mrs. Claus: Yeah, but they make you look good. Hey, every year I touch up your picture in Photoshop when we e-mail the elves the annual New Year’s Eve party invitations.

Santa: I just want to quit. Christmas is supposed to be about love, understanding and giving. It ends up being about anger, impatience and greed. What about God?

Mrs. Claus: Well, everyone has their own beliefs on that one. It’s not up to us to impose our beliefs on others.

Santa: Liberal!

Mrs. Claus: Conservative!

Santa: You’ve been watching too much CNN.

Mrs. Claus: And you’ve been watching too much Fox News.

Santa: Darn, we are becoming political. Maybe it’s time to retire after all. I’m so depressed.

Mrs. Claus: Don’t be. There’s a number of drugs you can take recommended by the pharmaceutical companies for that.

Santa: Boy, Christmas today is messed up.

Mrs. Claus: Agreed. Now, let’s go have some of those Christmas cookies.

Santa: Ho Ho Ho!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Darren DeBari

And you haven't made a short out of this yet, why? \:p ;\)

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Each year, to the dismay of my wife, I make ornaments from the Santa Coke cans. I bend the empty can, so that the rim of the top of the can is against the rim of the bottom. I make sure that the Santa image is completely visible on the opposite side. With the top touching the bottom, I place it on the floor(Santa side up)and keep my foot on it for pressure, so that the top doesn't separate from the bottom. I then flatten the can completely with my foot. The result is a flat, round alumnum Santa with the Coke logo, and the year of the can.

I wish they wouldn't mess with Santa. I read that certain groups are complaining because Santa promotes obesity and get this, others think that he should not say "Ho ho ho." Geez, they're gonna totally rehaul Santa as we all know him.

Do they even make the Coke Santa anymore?

Yeah, please do. I don't follow what you do to the can.

I'll get my son to take the picture.

Actually, indent the back of the can (opposite Santa)so that you can bend the can backwards so the top rim touches the bottom. Hold it in this position on the floor so that the top and bottom stay in contact with each other on the floor and that the Santa side(which is slightly widened because of the indentation)is facing up and apply pressure with your foot straight down to flatten the can.

Once you see the finished product you'll get the idea. You keep the tab on as it is perfect to slide the ornament hanger into.

I was once asked to help the cub scouts with a Christmas project when my oldest son was 7, so we did these. They had so much fun, they used up all the Coke cans, so I went into my recycleable container, and the kids learned that Miller Lite cans work equally well.

The den leader of Cub Scout Pack 398 never asked me to do a damn thing again. ;\)
