Anyone ever had problems with their wisdom teeth?
I keep getting gum infections and it is down to a nasty wisdom tooth lurking in there which is going to have to come out!
I have no fear of dentists but i am not looking forward to getting this bugger pulled out \:x
Feel free to fill me in with all the horror stories you all have about wisdom teeth!
It will help put my mind at rest \:D

I think I have no wisdom (tooth) at all \:D I never counted my teeth, but I don't recall feeling any new teeth, which should have happened already at my age \:\)

They are a pain. Sometimes the best solution is to just get them pulled. I've had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. Maybe that's why I have no more wisdom. \:\)

My husband had to have all 4 pulled at once. It sucked for a few days, and then it felt much better.

Does that help, Yogi? How's your mom doing?

How funny - I just got back from the dentist with my mom and brother for our checkups.

Yogi, your post reminded me immediately that I'd posted here when I had my wisdom teeth removed.

I was able to find that: Link

Afs, Zia, SB, and I all chat about it...

Best of luck, Yogi! You'll be fine!

Well last year I had all four of them pulled out in one shot, you should have seen my x-rays, all four were growing completely sideways therefore pushing all my other teeth (forward)together, expect a lot of blood gashing out of your mouth when you first wake up.
Because of all the painkillers I thought I was ok so I was walking around, talking and eating straight after, when I opened my mouth too wide and heard one of my stitches rip out from my gum, I blacked out, collapsed and bashed the side of my head on the floor, after that I stayed in bed till it healed... thank-god they put you to sleep now a days, unlike when my mum had of hers out, she was completely awake and the dentist was pulling it out with pliers while the nurse was trying to hold her head against the chair.

Overall it wasn't that bad, the painkillers they give you are pretty full on.

My dentist told me a while ago that I may have to get my wisdom teeth removed by the time I'm eighteen. But, that dentist was a bit sketchy, and I've since changed dentists... The new one hasn't said a thing of it.

It's sort of funny though, because I recently woke up, having little recollection of the night prior, and I was missing one of my wisdom teeth. Now there is just this little flap of gum in the back of my mouth that I tongue all day. So, I guess if I do have a problem, it's already 50% taken care of.

I hope you didn't swallow the tooth, LLC. It's the same as with watermelon seeds, only in this case, you end up with a set of dentures growing in your stomach.

Oh, so it's like when you swallow semen, only with dentures instead of babies?

I got all 4 of them pulled years ago. I couldn't really eat anything solid for about a week but after that you're fine. The painkillers were nice too ;\)

I had all but one of my wisdom teeth pulled. As a result, I now back to my fourth grade reader and entering spelling bees.

I had my two lower wisdom teeth removed on Valentine's Day, 1995. They asked if I wanted to be put out, but that would have been an inconvenience. I had novacane, which doesn't help much. The first tooth had had a root canal, so it wasn't bad at all. The second tooth was more painful, but it came out in a matter of seconds, after which the pain almost immediately subsided.

Just don't watch "Marathon Man" the night before.

Getting the bottom ones pulled is supposedly worse than getting the top ones pulled. I had my top ones pulled. Other than some bleeding, it was no big deal. I didn't feel a thing, and i went to work right from the dentist's office.

They're probably impacted. Mine are like that on the bottom. My dentist has wanted to take them out for 25 years, but they don't bother me, so they're staying. ;\)
