Here are some Godfather filming locations. You can see a Scarface location at 5 Tudor City Place on the East Side of Midtown, south of the U.N. And if you're a Sopranos fan, this bus tour originates in Manhattan and tours NJ site locations.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I'm glad you have the info at your fingertips Geoff!!! You probably could add a link here on the BB for members who want to visit NYC or do you already? TIS

"One of these days" I plan on coming up with my own "tour" that can be printed out...
Great idea! I know several years ago when I first visited NYC, it was here that I got a lot of great tips and where to go, what to see, etc. You guys were more helpful than you realized. Ha ha...look how big the BB is getting. We'll have our own BB "travel link." We'll be bigger than US Steel. TIS

My family will be spending a week in NYC this summer and I was hoping someone could give me a few mob-related places to check out. "Godfather" relatedHere's a good basic list of some of the locations you may want to visit: Depending on how much time you have to spend in New York, and how much distance you'll be willing to travel, you may want to concentrate on just a few areas. DowntownMulberry Street, the heart of "Little Italy" figures prominently in the "Godfather" movies. At #263 Mulberry St. (near Prince St.) is the "Old" St. Pat's Cathedral, used in the christening scenes of Connie's son in Part I and some scenes in the beginning of Part III. A short distance away at Thompson and Bleecker Streets is the location used when Sonny left Lucy Mancini's apartment (surrounded by bodyguards as he left the building). Mott Street, one block away, was used as the background for the scene in which Vito was gunned down. At #128 Mott Street (on the fourth floor) is a loft used for the interiors of the Genco Olive Oil Co. (where Sollozzo met with the Family leaders). A few blocks south is the NYS Supreme Courthouse (60 Centre Street) on whose steps Barzini tumbled down after being shot dead.MidtownAt #314 Fifth Avenue (by 32nd Street) is a pizzeria that used to be Polk's Hobby Shop (where Tom Hagen was kidnapped by Sollozzo). Go up north some to The Edison Hotel (241 West 47 Street, just off Broadway). The Edison's restaurant was used as the bar in which Luca Brasi was killed. Two short blocks north on the west side of Broadway (between 49th and 50th Streets) WAS the home of Jack Dempsey's Restaurant, used as the backdrop in front of which Mike waited to be picked up by Sollozzo and McCluskey. Head east a few blocks to Radio City Music Hall at Sixth Avenue and 50th Street. Mike and Kay left there only to see the newspaper headlines that Vito was shot. Walk a block east to #645 Fifth Avenue (at 51st Street), now the Olympic Tower Building. That WAS the former home of Best & Co., the department store from which Mike and Kay exited with their Christmas shopping. A few blocks up Fifth Avenue is The St. Regis Hotel (at 55th Street) in which Mike and Kay's hotel room scenes were filmed. 3/4 mile east of there is the 59th Street Bridge, used in Part I as the George Washington Bridge, over which Mike and Sollozzo drove on their way to Louis' Restaurant in The Bronx. Other The filming location for Sollozzo's murder scene was The Luna Restaurant (renamed "Louis' Restaurant" in the movie). It was at White Plains Rd. and Gun Hill Rd. (just under the "el" train). It is now the home to The Bethel Church of God. The restaurant went out of business a year after the movie was filmed. The Corleone Mall (supposed to be in Long Beach) was actually filmed on Staten Island. The homes used are located at #110 and #120 Longfellow Avenue in the Emerson Hill section. There is no wall around the houses (it was built out of styrofoam for the movie), and the homes are privately owned, so you won't be able to go inside, but here are travel directions to see them from the outside: (from lower Manhattan) - Take the Staten Island Ferry from the terminal at Battery Park to St. George, Staten Island. The Staten Island Rapid Transit Railway will take you from the St. George Station, four stops to Grasmere. From there Clove Rd. runs north into Milford Drive and Ocean Terrace. Longfellow Ave. is a cul-de-sac running east from Ocean Terrace. #110-120 are the last houses at the end of the road. The Cavalry Cemetery, just under the Long Island Expressway near Greenpoint Avenue (in Queens) was used to film Don Vito's funeral. The street address is 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., Woodside, Queens. There are 3 million people buried there, so good luck in finding the gravesite used in the movie. Its about time for me to update this list, but its a good beginning for visitors. (I put the better sites that remain relatively the same as they were when the movie was filmed IN BOLD).

The Edison Hotel is a good one to stay at too. In the summer hotel prices are ridiculous, but I stayed there right after New Year's. I think it was like $180/night. In the summer it'll probably be $300.00. Beth, I stayed at the Edison both times I visited NYC. I paid about 140 - 160 or so. I booked flight/hotel together so perhaps thats why it was a little cheaper. It's an old hotel, and the room wasn't exceptionally big, but it was comfortable and clean. I have no complaints. Also, it is in the middle of everything and walking distance for the most part to many things. TIS

And seeing all the crazies there makes me feel somewhat normal. Ha ha!!! Yea, I think every big city has their crazies don't they? In CA it's Hollywood Blvd. You see a lot of space cadets there. Anyway, back to NYC. If I lived closer I'd be visiting there much more often. TIS

That's funny, I remember falling for you. Yeah right! You fell because you were exhausted from walking 45 miles that day.

I go once a year. I actually went January 2, which I think technically should still be considered last year. So I'm past due. Now, if only my checking account felt the same way. Yea, that's me and Vegas. I try to go at least once a year. As far as NYC, I find the r/t flight is very very reasonable. It's the hotel prices that cha-ching up the tab. Of course, if I didn't want to stay in/by Time's Square I'd get a cheaper price, but who wants to be away from the action? TIS

You can't stay in New York without staying close to Times Square. That way if you get too drunk you don't need to worry about hailing a cab. Just follow the rest of the drunks.

Last year when I was there I wanted to try to see the Jon Stewart show. When I checked on line there weren't any tickets available, but I thought if I went there there might be some cancellations. The Edison was on 47 and Stewart's was on 52 or 53 I believe. Anyway, I thought how far can it be? I'll walk. Well, I went down 52/53rd (can't remember now) and walked and walked until after a certain point, I could just tell I wasn't in Kansas anymore. I quickly turned around and walked quickly back the way I came, obviously never finding my destination. You do have to be careful. It was a beautiful day and a nice day for a walk but, next time, I'll take a cab. TIS

Cab? Man, I couldn't get a cab if I was lying on the curb bobbing up and down. I guess I didn't show enough leg. I packed ready for it to be cool since it was January. I was walking around in boots and a leather jacket, and it was like 65 degress out. Heck, I got up one morning, walked from The Edison, to Macy's, back up towards Central Park, all the way down to Columbus Circle. And that was only before dinner.

Calvary Cemetery is broken down into 4 major sections and each is filled with sub-sections. The funeral scene was filmed at "First" Calvary, which is section 1 on Greenpoint avenue. You can see the BQE behind it as the procession enters the cemetery. Finding the actual section, well like SC said, good luck.

Held: a caveat I always share with people who are visiting New York: There are almost no public toilets anywhere in the city (or at least any that any decent person would consider using). Make sure you plan your day accordingly. I noticed that. Not even in a starbucks. They'll fill you up with coffee with no way to release it..haha. Just stay in a hotel close to Manhattan and walk to your hotel room when you gotta go.
