I just finished watching the DVD and enjoyed it. This was Al Pacino’s first film after the Godfather. As Serpico he is trying to keep his head above the corruption. Serpico wanted to become a cop to help people and can’t believe what he sees day to day. The dvd also has a number of featurettes on the making of the film. Pacino is excellent in the role.

Definitely one of Pacino's best roles. Impossible to think of the real life Serpico without picturing Al.

Gee, I wonder why it's so hard to find in Australia??? I hope you get to find it. I think you'll enjoy it.

They just had it on HBO here just a couple weeks ago and I was able to watch the entire movie. I really enjoyed it. It is one of my favorite Pacino movies to be sure. I remember seeing the real Serpico on tv (The Tomorrow Show maybe) a couple times during that era. I still have a clear picture of him in my mind.

That's not so much a thing for movie buffs as it is for DVD buffs. \:\)

I saw Serpico a long time ago, and thought it was a tame police film that's faded into a general no-show over the years. It could do with a remake, perhaps...?

I liked the documentary. Pacino grew a beard for the movie which was shot in reverse so at the end of the shoot pacino was clean shaven.

Long as I remember The rain been coming down.
Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

Being an Al Pacino fan, I bought this movie recently and liked it, but was a bit disappointed. Pacino plays Frank Serpico perfectly but the suspense just wasn't there. Another viewing might help, though.

Yeah, it lacked suspense, but it was a good movie. Just not great.
