Last night was the season premiere. Once again, they have athletes (Laila Ali, Clyde Drexler, Apollo Anton Ohno), actors (the guys who played Cliff Claven on Cheers and Steve on 90210), boy bander (guy from N'Sync), and the rest were TV personalities, models or beauty pageant winners whose names escape me. And of course, they also had the former Mrs. McCartney, Heather Mills.
I have to say - the show was pretty boring. Unlike last year, no one stood out, good or bad. There weren't any outstanding personalities (at least so far) and I would say the biggest draw this year is probably Cheryl Burke, one of the professional dancers. That says a lot about this season's "stars" (or lack thereof).
I think it will be difficult to top last season's DWTS, with the head-to-head-to-head between Mario, Emmitt, and Joey, much like American Idol is having a difficult time this year comparing to last season's Taylor/Daughtry/Elliot/McPhee showdowns.
I probably won't continue to watch this season.

I watched DWTS last night, and for me it was sort of like that car wreck you can't help but stare at on the highway. It was awful. And the whole Heather Mills Practice Segment, showing her various fake legs with their different shoes and pictures of her in the hospital bed with her leg gone, were just bizarre. I guess her spin on it is that she's being an inspiration to the disabled, but it was just TOO weird. And I almost fell off the couch laughing at the 6'7" basketball player with his 5'4" partner. When Billy Ray Cyrus called himself a redneck from Kentucky who can't dance, and then proved it by performing horribly and scalping his partner, I howled.
Perhaps after some of the really bad ones are gone, this show will be better, but as of last night, it was just frightening.

Apparently, not too many people here are watching this season. However, Laila Ali just danced the waltz, and her mom and dad were in the audience. She worked a kiss to her parents into the choreography. And may I say that I just might be the biggest sucker in the world, but to see Muhammad Ali sitting there and watching her waltz, just moved me to tears. It just breaks my heart to see how he has deteriorated, when he was such an amazingly handsome and strong specimen. But seeing him watch his daughter was just a killer, and yet so wonderful to see the love she has for him. I compared the sentiment of this dance to Jerry Springer's waltz for his daughter. It was sweet to see her affection for her father, especially in his frail condition. While she is not as bad as Jerry was her dancing does nothing for me. When they were telling Max he doesn't have to carry her, that she's a great dancer, I couldn't disagree more. I thought her Jive was to jumpy, and her arms were flaring all over the place. I see her and Billy Ray in the bottom 2 with Billy Ray going home. If anything to get that snooty Karina the f*ck off my tv. I want to see Joey and Apolo in the final 2. (I can't say Apolo's name without wanting to say his last name of Creed).

How about a little less questions and a lot more shut the hell up - Brian Griffin
