Has anyone played this game yet? I plan to pick it up next week, and if it's anything like the first, it will be fantastic.

I haven't picked it up quite yet, but I've played the hell out of it at GameStop (where I work.)

It's absolutely fantastic. It's even better than the first game, IMO.

I'm thinking about picking it up at work tomorrow, after I get paid.

Go ahead and buy it, Snake. You won't regret it.

Can you play this game without playing the first one? I always wanted to get the first game but never got around to it. I'll go back and play the original if it helps me understand the story or the character, but I'd rather just play the second one. Anyone know?

The game is a direct sequel to the first game.
The first game is great and I believe you should play the first one first, if you didn't you will be like.. What? oh who's that? oh WTF happened? ;\)

God of War II is SO COOL!
I didn't get it YET but played it at my friends house.
The graphics and the gameplay sre awesome!

I've seen the graphics of the new one and going by what I have heard it is really fun too. I'll definitely take your advice and start with the first one so that I can play the second one as well \:\)

It IS awesome! Better than the first. The PS3 may be the next generation of consoles, but GOW II shows that the PS2 still has plenty of mileage left in it. Best $50 I ever spent.
