I was watching Part III, actually it was a scene from III that was on the Bonus disc. It's the scene when Vincent comes into Michael's office the first time. Conny introduces Vinnie very clearly she says "Michael this is Vincent Mancinni, Sonny's boy"

Now that always struck me as weird since he is so closely related (although a basterd) that he has to be introduced. But what is stranger is that later on in that very same scene I remember Michael saying something like "when you wanted to work for Joey Zasa I adviced you not to do it. I offered you something better"

So that clearly states that they've met. But he is introduced and very directly to Michael too. So thats weird, its like copolla wanted to introduce Vincent to the public and forgot that Michael already knew him.

What do you guys think?

Some viewers needed to be told who Vincent was, since neither the novel, nor GF, nor GFII indicated that Sonny made Lucy Mancini pregnant. Even though we see Vincent with Lucy at the beginning of the party scene, and even though he greets Connie with, "How's my favorite aunt?" some people may not have made the connection.
Also, Connie was trying to help Vincent. By emphasizing "Sonny's son," she was telling Michael, "this kid's your nephew, after all--give him a break."

ok thats a good explaination. Though it does come across as if Michael didnt know Vincent yet, or hardly. He wasnt on the list for instance, as his mother wasnt.

i think michael knew of vincent, knew he was sonny's bastard kid and helped him out because of that ("i had something better for u")...but i think that he wasnt that close to him and wouldnt see him for a while because sonny was dead so he would always be with his mother obviously....so michael might not recognize him but knows who he is...as far as him saying "my fav. aunt", that is probably because his mother, lucy mancini, was a lot closer with connie than she was with michael(lucy and connie were friends)..michael might not have even known her at all.....so vincent was probably alot closer to connie
