SC, please explain to me if u can whats the point of the star in your "F*CK" cos for the life of me I cant get it.
Who the fuck are you are that I need to explain myself to you? In all seriousness, its nothing more than a modest attempt to clean up my gutter mouth while trying to still convey my anger at whatever it is to which I'm referring. I use the word (too much) in my daily vocabulary but I'm almost always cognizant of where/when I'm using it. I'm somewhat old-fashioned and try not to curse like that in front of ladies and children. I guess this is an extension of that. Dunno if that makes sense, but who the f*ck cares??

Well, I can't really answer for all the potty-mouths on here. But I can say that it's usually the more polite way of typing such words, like they would do on TV or in newspapers.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

That's what makes Petey Pan so damn sexy! Since I was 9 years old, I don't think I've gone a single day without saying the F word at least once. Yeah, okay... something I'd be proud of!

But what's the difference between a '*' and a 'u'? I guess the star just represents the censorship, meaning the person who wrote the word wants to reduce the impact of the word, and by censoring yourself you make it more respectable...

flick you?
Thats the only word I can think of which starts with F, ends with K and has 3 letters in between.... Freak, too, but... I won't interfere with your fight. PS - "Fuck" only has 2 letters between F and K

I don't actually like the way it looks when written, because "ck" is very ugly, I think. When I speak it I tend to elongate the "f" and soften it, and then don't dwell on the "u". I usually say, very softly, "ffagh", with the "gh" a very throaty sound. It makes things very flexible, and useful for many contexts. If I'm angry at someone, I find the word useful, along with c-unt, in showing my anger. But I find I rarely have to use the word in that way.
I'm still not sure if people would be intimidated by my use of "fuck" or whether it would lend a warming personality to my presence.

But what's the difference between a '*' and a 'u'? I guess the star just represents the censorship, meaning the person who wrote the word wants to reduce the impact of the word, and by censoring yourself you make it more respectable... I know what it's used for and why, but I was questioning the effect of it. When you read the word you still read the same word, you're still saying "fuck" inside of your head. The star only registers visually, and even then it might now (like I said, I see little difference in the censor sign and the letter u, both are interchangeable common signs). If anything, it's the "ck" which makes things ugly, not the noun; the blunt, abrupt sound of the word gets all of its potential aggression from the end of the word, but how harshly you say that. It's the same with c-unt, but there it's at the beginning. So if anything, why not write it as *unt or fu**?

Well put SC. That's exactly the reason that I sometimes use the stars in a curse word. I also use them when I am just having a casual discussion about something. But there are times, let's say for example, someone posts a story about a child that was attacked by a pervert or molested, or something of that nature, and I will spell out the actual curse because I am really angry. I guess that you can say that if I use a curse in casual discussion here on the boards, I try to censor it out of (what some may think is old fashioned), respect for the ladies. But when I am really mad about something as disgusting as perversion against a minor, or something of that nature, then I don't give two fucks how I spell it! Don Cardi
