Hi everyone. I draw as a hobby, and since I love the godfather I figured I would start drawing scenes from the movie. I am almost done with this first drawing, and I figured I would post it on this board. Criticism is always welcome. Its not perfect, but I think its a good representation.

VITO CORLEONE (to Johnny, after glancing to see Sonny enter)

You spend time with your family?

JOHNNY

Sure I do.

VITO CORLEONE (to Johnny, but toward and about Sonny)

Good. 'Cause a man who doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man.

Nice work! About how long does it take you to draw a piece like that?

Please post some more.

Well it depends. I just finished a drawing for a family member, and started this one on Sunday. I worked on it yesterday and today for a few hours. I think about six hours would be about right. Maybe a little more, or less. I had some free time being in Illinois with the snow, and work was canceled. I like the way Clemenza's, and Rocco's faces turned out, but wasn't too thrilled with Paulies. Oh well. I am going to move on to something else. Thanks for the kind comments.

That's a very nice drawing!

If you do anything else that you'd like to share with the BB, please don't hesitate to post it.

I have only two pieces of advice, not necessarily criticism:

1. Many times, I get so involved with a project that I just have to take a break from it. Sometimes a day, sometimes more. Then I can pick up where I left off with a slightly clearer mind and, perhaps, see things a little differently than before.

2. Be your own worst critic, but never blind yourself to the truly positive elements that are there in your work. This is trickier than it sounds!

Signor V.

"For me, there's only my wife..."

"Sure I cook with wine - sometimes I even add it to the food!"

"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?"

"It was a grass harp... And we listened."

"Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? Every, every minute?"

"No. Saints and poets, maybe... they do some."

Signor,
Thanks for the advice. When I work on drawings I usually get advice from other people. I think I can get caught up into it, and thats why I go to other people. I will share future Godfather related drawings. I have other ideas in mind. Thanks again.

That's just beautiful, YoungDonVito. That's quite a way to enter the GBB, welcome to the boards.
How about something that you'd have to sketch by imagination, rather than memory. Perhaps, Neri and Fredo in a small boat together, Al with his gun drawn behind an unwitting Fredo ?
A scene that's been implied but never filmed, something to that effect.

Eventually I may try drawing both of those. This is getting fun. There are still a few things that I have to draw first, but I will keep everyone updated on the progress and new projects.

Very nice work. I join the others in saying I would love to see more whenever you get the chance. You have a skill that I would love to have.

I like the dark color scheme. Much of the movie looks dark, and of course this scene is 'dark' in terms of the death.

Yea it was a print of the drawing. Someone on here said something about trying to sell prints. I figured I would give it a try and see what happens. Unfortunately it didn’t sell. Oh well.
