I am wondering if someone can confirm this observation for me. In the movie "Bugsy", the gangsters are erecting their dreamed-of hotel. The set which played the exterior of this hotel to my recollection had white brick pillars, an astro-turf walkway, and a suggested courtyard on one side which, in the movie, had dust swirling in it.

In Godfather II, when Michael escapes from Havana, he returns to Las Vegas and walks through what looks to be the identical set from the Bugsy movie.

Does anyone know if these are indeed the same sets? (I'm assuming it may have been the actual exterior of a hotel in Las Vegas).

Don Roberto -

I don't recall Michael going to Las Vegas in GFII when he returns from Cuba. I only remember him returning to the Tahoe estate and walking outside of the house. Is this the scene you are talking about?

There's a certain similarity between that scene in GFII and the one you're describing in "Bugsy," Don Roberto. But I think it's suggested by the swirling dust and tumbleweed. The "Bugsy" set was bigger and more elaborate, whereas the GFII scene basically looked like a motel with dust and tumbleweed.
(DC: Don Roberto is referring to the scene immediately after Michael's departure from Havana when he meets Tom, Neri and Rocco in a hotel or motel room--it's where Tom tells him that Kay had an abortion and he shouts, "Was it a boy?")

Ok, I remember the scene now.
Maybe it's time for me to watch GFII again. It has been a few months since I last watched it you know.

Thanks TB.

It's always time to watch GFII! I retired because work was interfering with my viewing of GFII.

I agree

and Tom told Mike it was a miscarriage. It was Kay who actually threw it in Mike's face (in the worst mistake of her life) that it was an abortion.

Bugsy was made many years after GFII, so I doubt it is the same set (unless it is the same motel).
