Joe Montengna says in the DVD Bonus footage (On Location - A look Inside) that while filming the opening of GFIII at Old St Patricks Cathedral in Little Italy, FFC told him that this was the same location as the Baptism scene in GF1. Hence the "Challenge" in "filming locations" below should be put to rest and removed! Also, I don't see filming locations for GFIII? Here is one.

"Old St. Patrick's Cathedral on Mulberry Street was used for the christening scene. A real Bishop was used. Coppola's family is used as extras. [Challenged: Mt Loretto Church in Staten Island?] "

My guess was that Old St. Pat's was used for the interior shots and Mt Loretto Church was used for the exterior shots of everyone coming out afterward.

DH,

Good Point. The inside and outside shots must be different. The outside scene of the Baptism is clearly not Old St Pats because the film scene has a spacious, green suburban look. St Pats in in the City.

Dale,
You are right on the money my friend! Interiror scenes were old St. Pats and the exterior scenes were shot on Staten Island at Mt. Loretto.

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.
