I do, and this is the best world cup ever for me.

I love everything, even though we did not win the championship.

And the song is the best one ever made for a world cup.
"Notti magice..." This is called "Un estate italiana" sung by Gianna Nannini and Edoardo Bennato.

Where are you from and what do you remember about that world cup?

Funny, I was gonna post pretty much the exact same thing Turi said. I'm quite sure that I will remember the 2006 World Cup though.

I'm thinking I wont even remember the '06 World Cup if I get as drunk as I want.

If you Englishman would stop getting drunk you might win the WC. Beckham is always sober, but he'll get a red card anyway so ... Tough luck for Erikson.

Don Pappo, I was 2 at the time so I don't remember. I actually know nothing about it, except for Italy winning.
I thought you'd prefer the '86 WC. I mean, you won it, and Maradona played football like he was from another planet.

Speaking of Maradona, was he still there in Italy '90? And was he on the world cup of '94 in the USA?

He WAS in Italy 90, Italy didn`t win the World Cup, Italy lost with Argentina by penalties in the semi final part.
The final match was Argentina-Germany and Argentina lost 1-0
and Germany became the World Champion, Maradona was in USA 94 but he was diqualified from the World Cup for dopping and Argentina lost.

I remember it well!
I was 20 & i was there following England....
Too many great memories.
The draw with Ireland!
David Platt's last gasp goal against Belgium!
Lineker's nerveless penalties against Cameroon!
The heart breaking semi against germany & Gazza's tears
Yes it was my favourite World cup by a mile...but germany will be better if we win it!
Which we won't probably...
and no i'll not be going to this one....far too old for those shenannigans these days

Here in Belgium, we're still angry about that and David Platt is a hated man. I mean, the fucking 120th minute!!! WE should have played those semi-finals!

Right, Italy won in '82.

I hate this one, that's because I'm Dutch.

We were one of the favourites for the title having just won the European Championship in '88 (in GERMany, just like this year!) and with super players as Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard, Ronald Koeman, Gerald Vanenburg, Hans Van Breukelen, etc all in their prime.

The problem supposedly was a clash of ego's...such a shame.

On the other hand, that's also the beauty of football; the best team (on paper) does not always win. Just look at Denmark in 1992 (who did not even qualify but replaced Yugoslavia because of the war) or Greece in 2004 or Real Madrid!

Talking about Ronald Koeman,i also remember in the Group Stages whem england played a goalless draw with Holland (although Stuart Pearce's goal should have counted ) & Gazza played a dummy & left Koeman on his backside, layed the ball off, turned to Ronald and said "How much are you supposed to be worth?"

Priceless Gazza!

I don't doubt Koeman's English but can anyone really understand a pissed up Gazza?

Yogi, did you watch any of the Mike Bassett series? The character based on Gazza was hilarious.

The one & only Enzo!
Fabulous footballer...but now headed for oblivion
Saw him in town recently & he looked dreadful. For someone who is supposed to be fighting a battle with the bottle...well it is a battle he is losing. He was well out of it
Crying shame it is.
I remember his Newcastle debut & those few years he played for us!
God he was awesome
I hope he sorts himself out & finds some sort of peace.

Reminds me a bit of other footballers who went down, like George Best and Diego Maradonna.

I only hope that Wayne Rooney doesn't go down the path of self destruction before he even gets a chance to show the world how truly talented he is.
