I want to purchase the most complete set of films...with all the added / missing footage. I am a bit confused as to what is available vs. what was made for TV....the Epic, the Saga, the Trilogy...what should I look for?
thanks smile

Out here in The Netherlands, the best thing available is the GF-trilogy boxset. But sometimes television stations give the possibility of buying copies of their programs on VHS. Of course I don't know who of the US stations broadcasted the GF-movies but why not give it a try for the most complete versions of your all-time-favourites.

Good luck,

Rogier Maurice

The DVD set contains the most material overall, especially the "extras" disc that has all the deleted scenes and many features besides. However, the spliced-for-TV "Saga" version that puts GF and GFII in chronological order contains nearly all the deleted scenes, and has the benefit of putting all in total chronological order, which is a big help.

The most complete Godfather collection would be the CIC Video boxset called "The Godfather Epic : 1901-1959"...this is the TV version with all available footage, edited into chronological order AND unlike the TV version, NONE of the language, violence or nudity has been edited in any way. This box set was available in the PAL video tape format in England (someone just had one up for auction on Ebay not long ago) and on Japanese import laserdisc...that's the old style large size laserdisc, not DVD. I have the Japanese import laserdisc version...the only drawback might be that every line spoken in this version is subtitled in Japanese across the bottom of the screen. This doesn't bother me but I suppose there are some people who might be distracted by it.
