Mig-- I think he's like 22 or 23... he doesn't look that young if you see him in action; just in pictures. That picture in particular. I've posted another one before where he hasn't shaved in a while, and he looks older in that one. I'll look for it now. There aren't too many good pictures of him out there yet though, if you do a Google search, they show like the same 3 bad pictures repeated a few times.

SB-- of course you're invited... jailbird and SB go hand in hand! However, with this many people joining in, we're gonna have to make it a BYOB event-- Bring Your Own Bail money. I don't know how many briefcases full of cash I want to drive to SD with, you know?

Gi-- that's one good thing about baseball season... the Willy jokes are back!!

Count me in for the SD game! Okay, not really, unless someone can send me a private jet, but it does sound like fun.

Pitchers and catchers reported to Spring Training. Woo hoo!!
. Who's ready to head down to Florida?

Still can't find a pic of Vinny in his Padres uniform. What the hell are they waiting for, until I die of dehydration?

Well, the day has finally arrived!! The sports section of my newspaper had a front page story about the Yankees! Unfortunately, it was about Carl Pavano's inability to pitch from the mound because of a sore back . The season hasn't even started and one of our starting pitchers is already disabled. Why do I have a feeling of deja vu??

But at least there's baseball talk again!! Hooray!!

Beth, this was all I could find...

I suppose you've seen that, though?

SB, I know just what you mean. I saw my first Astros cover story a little while back, and even though it was concerning Bagwell's situation, I was so excited to see it.

Thanks Gina. I can never look at pics of Vinny too much. Funny, I didn't realize their colors were black and white. I always thought they were blue. You can tell I don't want much San Diego games.

I'm still looking for some "action" pitures. I can't find them. I think they're hiding them from me.

What are you girls in the appropriately named "fantasy" game gonna do?

Draft players based on their looks, or their baseball stats? :p

I was just looking, Beth, and I came up with about 12 third baseman that I'd rather have than Vinny, so you should have no trouble getting him for your team.

I've told you all along that's what I'm using as my criteria, why do you seem surprised.

As far as wanting 12 other third basement, there's nothing wrong with that. :p

Beth, we automatically have the right to ignore the post of any man that appears in the Ladies Thread, as they are known to carry the dreaded cooties.

Another Yankee story in Sports today, this one an interview with Steinbrenner and how he hates the WBC, saying it interrupts spring training and puts the players at risk of being injured before the season even starts. At about the same time, Jeter was quoted that it was an honor to reperesent the US. Guess Georgie won't be too happy with him.

I agree SB. The nerve of men coming with their cooties to our neck of the woods and correcting us. They should be put in their place. But spring training is upon us so I have no time to tend to such things. I have too much stalking to do.

The boy in that cartoon cracks me up, Beth - the way he's just staring, with his arms hanging straight down...

It reminds me of the character Molly Shannon played in that Seinfeld episode, that Elaine got in a "cat fight" with.

Zia, you're watching the All-Star festivities, I assume?

I read an article today about how Tracy was at risk to drop out of this weekend's events - he's apparently had a lot of personal issues going on, but he hasn't made anything public. I just hope he's okay.

Is there anyone out there who is darn sick of the Olympics yet? Mr. Babe has had it on pretty regularly, but there are very few events that have captured my attention. This morning they had on Curling. What IS that? It looked like some women were chasing a XLarge puck down the ice with various cleaning implements. This has now taken over as my idea of the most stupid event, previously occupied by the skiing/shooting event, which actually was sort of exciting yesterday.

I couldn't agree more, the only thing worse than curling are the announcers who take curling seriously.

Part, I'm sure it takes far more skill than it looks like it does. It does, however, look sort of silly. But so does the skiing/shooting event, which must take enormous skill and endurance. There are some sports that are just not spectator sports, so we'll just have to mock them!

I admit I've barely watched 10 minutes of The Olympics. I have the feeling that has been stated on The Mike and Mike show. They seem to be showcasing the "stars", Michelle Kwan, Bode Miller and such. The Olympics is supposed to be about the average American playing for the love of their country. Was all the euphoria surrounding The Americans beating The Russians in hockey because they were all All Star players? No, it was because they were the underdog who were supposed to be no match for them. That feeling seems to have degenerated lately.

With that said, I agree with SB. What the hell is curling? It is silly for announcers to get all excited about a sport you hear nothing about but every 4 years. Do colleges actually have curling as a sport? Maybe they do. What's next? Extreme sweep offs? (She cleaned up that pile of dust mites in 3.3 seconds. A new world
record).

I have to say that the women's skeleton took on new meaning for me the other night. Just as one of the competitors was getting ready for her run, the announcers were talking about the fact that this would be her last competition for a while because she had just announced that she was two months pregnant. No sooner were the words out of his mouth, but she flopped belly down on the sled and went hurtling downhill. Kind of scary!

I've pulled up the Padres schedule to see if by chance they might play The Nationals or Orioles this season. They do play The Nationals, but they are at home.

Vinny plays against 3 of his ex teams this year: The Nationals, The Rockies and The Braves. I always wonder how they feel playing against their old comrades. But at least it's a stadium you're used to, and you might hit better. With Ted Turner owning a cable network I sometimes get The Braves games, so I might get lucky and be able to watch those games.

(Finally Catching a Breather)

Hey Everybody,
Just wanted to say a big hello to everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been around, but contrary to what you might think, it hasn't been all wedding plans that's been keeping me busy. Actually, work has been keeping me busy - I mean really busy. As in, 16-hours-a-day to all-nighters busy, including weekends. On January 30th, my client announced the following settlement that I've been working on. In addition, some of you may know that I've been working on Senate asbestos legislation for the last three years. Well, it really heated up in the last two months - you may have seen some coverage in your newspapers. I've had a vacation cancelled and wedding planning delayed. I'm very exhausted.

I just wanted to say that I miss you all and I hope to be around more.

Anything I should catch up on?
