I coudln't believe this when I read it on ESPN.com. This is starting to piss me off! Corporate sponshors need to get out of the sports business, they are ruining it! If players ever start wearing patches on their uniforms like NASCAR drivers I might have to start boycotting the sucker. I'm getting tired of this!!

I saw that article earlier. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me!

Read about this in the paper. Its quite disturbing if you ask me. I was even more pissed when I read that the SkyDome was one of the parks that is gonna be part of the ad campaign. If they want to have an ad campaign promoting Spiderman 2 they should just have some bobblehead give away to cross promote it with famous players. When they use the bases to promote worthy causes (breast cancer research) or to actually promote the game (ASG, WS) it fits to use the bases in that way. But when they do it for purely comercial reasons it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Bottom line MLB doesn't need the money that badly and they shouldn't do this.

Yeah, baseball is "selling out" on this one. But, there's many stadiums with company names, so this comes as no surprise. They say there doing this for the kids. Is there any 8-year-old out there know companies like Network Associates, Bank One, or Petco? Probably not. I don't even know what half of them are or what products they sell.

There was a little blurb in the Daily News this morning, "Following a day of harsh criticism from basball fans and from the press, .....to remove controversial logos from bases during an upcoming promotional weekend."

Its bad enough that we have to see advertisements as part of the backstop. I'm glad they've kept advertisers off of the uniforms. Doesn't MLB make enough money?

Problem is, in NASCAR, you essentially can't compete without a sponsor, whereas the Yanks and the Red Sox names can sell themselves.
