Eli Manning to the Giants. WHooo Hooooo!
But at what price? The trade is controversial, and Manning better be worth it. But Im sure he will be.

What I dont agree with is the talk about him starting right off the bat. Not a smart move at all. Let Collins stay this last season and start, but give Manning the occasional play time. Unfortunately, it doesnt look like its gonna happen that way.

Well as someone who absolutely hates the giants, I hope Eli Manning is a big bust ALA Ryan Leaf.

But from an unbiased view point, I happen to think they gave up too much to aquire him.

I agree with Iceman in saying that I hope he pulls a Ryan Leaf. I'm sorry, raggingbull2003, but as a San Diego native, I have to go against you on this one. Making it public that you don't want to play for a team is uncalled for. Kyle Boller said something to the effect of, "The TEAM drafts you, you don't pick which team you play for. That's the whole beauty of surprise in the NFL Draft; you never know who you will play for, and you play for whatever team drafts you."

I guess you can say he pulled a John Elway.

Actually your not going against me Caporegime. I feel the same way as you do, and I for one think its bad carma for him and for the Gmen. But that doesnt change the fact that I am extatic that he's a Giant.

Collins will be gone and the Bachelor should go hide in a hole.

Big Ben at the Steelers. If you told me thatr would happen a month a go I would have been ecstatic. I'm still happy but with the hype of getting Rivers I'm a little let down. I'm also very happy with our 2nd pick of Colclough, that is just awesome.

I still think that you can win a superbowl with a better than average quarterback, but you need a great line and superb receivers. Ask Dan Marino, ask Fran Tarkenton. Simms was a better than average qb, but he won behind a great offensive line....and a great defense.

ESPN had an interesting statistic about highly drafted QBs. I forget exactly the criteria, but since the 1960's, only 5 or 6 QBs have won a Super Bowl with the team that drafted the player. So that eliminates Elway (drafted by Baltimore) and Favre off the bat.

If you want any more proof that it doesn't take a highly drafted QB to win a Super Bowl, look at the recent Super Bowl winners: Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, etc.

Granted, I'm going back to Super Bowl 1.

Montana
Simms
McMahon

There may be more, but that's all I could think of.

I might be wrong about the date range-maybe it went back to the 70s or 80s. But I do remember that there were 69 QBs drated in the first round during this time frame, but only 5 or 6 won the Super Bowl.

Actually, I think he was a 3rd rounder. I know Starr was a 17th round pick!

There really are very few that win the whole thing. Namath, McMahon,Aikman come to mind, but I don't know what round some of the others were picked.

Remember Doug Williams with the Redskins? I don't think he was a high draft choice. Jim Plunkett with the Raiders. That was a wild card team that won. Plunkett was a good college QB (Stanford?), but where was he drafted?

Give me a topnotch lineman any day. Open a hole in the line and a mediocre running back can fall forward for five yards.

Plunkett won a Heisman, and I'd guess he was a high first rounder as Heisman winners usually are.

Plunkett was drafted by New England, but was considered a bust early in his career. His two Super Bowl victories came with the Raiders.

Doug Williams was drafted by Tampa and won it with Washington.

I agree Mary Cas - if I were to start a team from scratch, I draft an offensive tackle & build a solid line as my first priority. Ask Emmitt Smith how important the o-line was during the Cowboys early 90's championship seasons.

Jim Kelly might as well be tossed on in there, though he never won the big one, he was an awesome #1 pick for the Bills, making it to the big dance 4 times.

Also, I don't understand ESPN's thing about Emmitt Smith being the only RB to be drafted in the first round in I forgot how many years...didn't the Bills take Willis McGahee last year???

They must mean 1st round picks that win the Super Bowl. A lot of RB are picked in the 1st round. Did the Bills use a 1st round pick on Kelly? He played in the USFL before going to Buffalo.

What is the word on McGahee? Every time I see the replay of that hit on his knee it makes my knee hurt.

The Pack went heavy on defense, but I'm a little skeptical of why trading away picks to get a punter in the 3rd rd? This could come back to bite Sherman.
Anyways, congrats to all the Wisconsin Badgers drafted!

I for one am glad the Packers went heavy on defense. The situation with CB Mike McKenzie is getting worse with his refusal to attend training camp, so they could use Ahmad Carroll immediately to fill in the gap. They may have to move Al Harris to the #1 slot, but I'm afraid he lacks the speed to cover it. I hope Sherman makes the right choices in the near future. Only time will tell.

My team got a stud left tackle - Robert Gallery! The Raiders really improved their team in the off-season. Now if we had only gotten Corey Dillon...

A punter in the 3rd round, BGT?? Are you serious?? Wow.

I don't think a punter should ever be drafted on the first day - unless the guy can kick the ball 85 yards with perfect accuracy.

Haha, unlucky, I guess you're not too happy with the Zereoue signing. Watch out for the Screen passes on 3rds.
