According to ESPN, Vladimir Guerrero is going to the Anaheim Angels for a five-year, $70 million deal. This absolutely SHOCKS me. The Angels came out of absolutely NOWHERE!!! Wow.

This is very unexpected; I couldn't believe Valadius initially so I checked espn.com to verify (no offense to Valadius). The Angels were one of the last teams that I expected to sign him. As a matter of fact, it didn't seem like anybody was going to actually make a deal with his agent because these talks have dragged on for so long.

For Anahiem's sake, I hope he ends up being worth the money, but I'm just glad this ordeal is over.

Sal: "Tom, can you get me off the hook? For old times' sake?"

As a Dodger fan, I'm pissed that they didn't try harder to sign Vlad. As a resident of Orange County who lives 15 minutes away from Edison Field, I'm glad that I'll be able to see Guerrero play often.

I think Vlad will be much more comfortable in Anaheim than in Montreal. There are a handful of Dominican players on the team, the owner is Latino, and the nearby city of Santa Ana has a large Latino population.

It's too bad that Montreal couldn't hang on to V.G. but the uncertain status of the team due to financial woes made him a liability. I just hope the Expos are still in Montreal come 2005.

At this rate, they will be. But they are definitely going to move at some point.
