One day, I will go

You have to be 18, and be connected to the press in some way.

Anyway, the pré-E3 speeches are the 9th, right?

This is not the definitive list, and there will be a lot of surprises.

Nothing from EA, and only Zelda from Nintendo is just not possible.

Good advice. :p

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

EA is showing a game but it's behind closed doors. Just got the invitation. I also know Nintendo is going to show off the new Wii and have details and games at the show. It does not look good for the PS3 though

If anyone is going to E3 and would like to meet up South hall is the best place just post and I would like to meet a few of those that post here. I know that it is for those in the industry but I thought I would try and throw it out there and see if anyone else is going?

Does this game not look like the shizzle? I had hopes for a PS3 launch coinciding with this release, but it looks like the game will be out in early '07. But damn, Operation Market Garden couldn't get much more realistic.

Thank Al Gore for the internet, because without it, we'd be lost. G4TV is terrible, so much better when they were still the now-defunct TechTV.

My impressions so far:

Sony - Laid a huge egg with the price ($499 for the 20 GB "cheap" version with no memory slots, wireless capabilities, or HDMI/Hi-Def outputs and $599 for the 60GB version which has all of that and a bag of chips) and the two versions of the PS3. Made themselves look like arses by making fun of Microsofts core system, and in reality, they did the same thing (actually, worse, since you cannot upgrade the "tard" pack 20 GB PS3 system). Didn't really cover the PSP enough, and while the graphics look great, the developers still are wary about the console's Cell architecture as well as the fact that the price is extremely high and the 20/60 GB system split will divide the Sony market. At least they are keeping the controller identical to the Dualshock, except no rumble and a new tilt feature (ripped from Nintendo?). Also, rumour has it that the PS3 games will cost a whopping $80 USD, compared to $50-$60 USD for X-Box 360 and the under $50 promised by Nintendo.

If I were at Sony, I'd fire the market strategists. They are completely out of touch with the gaming economy and look lost. Basically, the price of their console (and functionality, or lack thereof) is already setting a tone that doesn't bode well for Sony, since they are alienating what stood to be a solidified market of both hardcore gamers and the casual Madden player.

Grade: D+
Reasons: Price bombshell, two seperate consoles (one "cheap" version and one "good" version with different, non-upgradeble functionality, games don't look *much* better than 360.

Microsoft - With their console a year old, they needed to come up with something big for games, and they did: Halo 3, which if course sent all the multiplayer shooting fanboys into instantaneous orgasmic states. Other than that, I really wasn't too impressed with their lineup, but you know they are sitting back and high-fiving each other after Sony announced their price, realizing that the competition just drove the market into Microsofts hands.

Grade: B-
Reasons: Console is already out for some time, so no major news, a few good games (Grand Theft Auto will be released on 360, no longer a delayed/exclusive Sony title) and the Halo 3 previews.

Nintendo - Wow. I mean, I wasn't even planning on buying a Wii (formerly Revolution) until two days ago, after the Sony buzzard laid the giant rotten egg and I saw the Wiimote and nunchucks in action. I have to say, shame on me for not believing in the fat Italian plumber. All of their games (especially Mario Galaxy, Zelda: TP, and Metroid 3) look fantastic, and the controller is so multifaceted and adaptable that you can use it for just about any game application (such as the Duck Hunt adapted posted below). Just nuts. I'm totally sold on the Wii, and it might be my launch console (as the GameCube was a few years ago). Though many questioned the functionality of the Wiimote before E3, there is no doubt this is going to seriously kickass.

Grade: A+
Reasons: Showed everyone that their TV-remote ridiculed controller is in reality the first real gaming experience where you can put yourself into the game. Will revolutionize gaming as we know it. Fantastic lineup of games, and the nice price (under $199) for their console.

---

Thoughts?

Wii's Best Games of E3

Super Mario Galaxy

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Metroid Prime 3

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Madden NFL '07

*Note - you may wonder why I'm putting Madden, which is a multiplatform game, on the Wii's best game list. But because of the revolutionary control structure, it is wholly different from the Madden games that will be on the PS3/360. You can read all about it here.
