From today's NY Post:

June 6, 2005 -- WORD from the the set of "The Sopranos" is that a seventh and final season of the mob opera will be a short one — just six epsiodes.

The show is currently filming season six for debut sometime in March.

David Chase, the show's creator, at first said this would be the series' final season — but in the past few weeks, he has said he might do one more season.

Chase is considering "tacking on an additional six or so episodes to the shooting schedule" and doing a shortened seventh season, TVGuide.com reports.

That could mean there won't be the long break between seasons (this last hiatus was nearly two years) that has become something of a trademark for "The Sopranos." Instead, seasons six and seven would be separated by just a few months.

The Sopranos need to end already. I'd like to see a feature movie after season six that wraps everything up and ends it all. But of course we all know that won't happen...as long as people still watch it (which we will) he's gonna keep going.

Because his cashflow (for some reason) is valued more than the personal satisfaction of knocking out quality episodes.

Though I mustn't complain too much. As long as they are quality episodes, I'll keep watching. And even if they aren't, I will remain loyal to the Don.

i've enjoyed every season so far...and though i'd like to see it end already because im curious as to what happens to tony...i also realize that they can definatly go more places with this show. it's still a great show...tops in my opinion, and only rivaled by it's sister who, six feet under.

Long may the Sopranos rule!
Who cares if its not quite as good as it was in the first 3 series...it's still by far & away the best show on TV by light years!
