Who else would tony give it up to? Sil is the smartest, but that's why he is the Consig. Paulie has a 6th grade education or something, and while education or a diploma probably don't have much to do with the Job, if you have someone that others think less of as the head of your family then you are weaker just like that. I can so no other logical choice.

I was kinda thinking of this myself at the end of Season 5. If Tony were to get pinched or whacked off of the show, who would you think would be boss? I'm sure most would disagree with me on this, but I'd like to see Season 6 end with Tony being clipped and having someone else be a new don (kinda like the end of Godfather III)

I wasn't saying it was going to end that way, I was simply saying that I wouldn't mind seeing it end that way!

Chris is far too hotheaded to be boss, maybe that would change in this character with age, but boss, imo, no

The same thing could be said for Sonny from The Godfather but that didn't stop him from assuming power when the Don was gunned down

That's exactly my point. I don't think Chris would be a great Boss to take over after Tony.

I agree with you Tony Kyprianou, based on all the other characters (such as Paulie, Chris, etc) he's the best candidate. He's already got the brains being Tony's con. and I think he'd probably do the best job

Yeah Irishman, its not really that Sil is a legend or anything, but if you consider the competition, he's the best choice, if Chris or Paulie were at the helm, the family would evaporate...

Despite his millions of f* ups I don't see why he couldn't POTENTIALLY be the boss someday.

If Chris ever gets his sh*t straight he could be great(at whatever it is he does), even if it's not in the mafia. His success in the impromptu acting course he took signified Chris' potential for greatness since season 2. He has of course shown flashes of brilliance since(as well as flashes of not-so brilliance).

In a season 6 episode I remember noting his 'older' physical looks. I can picture him in 10-15 yrs with slighly grayer hair and just being a ruthless ass s.o.b who rules with a iron grip.

Chris is a 'new' school guy who has received 'old' school teachings from Tony, his POTENTIAL is AMAZING, right?

(Of course, in the upcoming season everyone will be saved from 'the life' so it doesn't matter anyway! ;\) )

Any succession would be greatly influenced by New York. So far, Chris does NOT have the gravitas to be on NY's radar.

Well, age wise, Michael Imperioli is 41 now, 4 years older than Gandolfini in the first season and 10 years older than Pacino in GF 1. I don't think Chris's age would prevent him from being boss, however, I think his character defects will.

Gandolfini is in his 30s?

No, he was born in 1961, so when he shot the first season in 1998 he was 37, 4 years younger than Imperioli is now.

Christopher is not capable of being boss. He is too easily distracted by the things that his money can buy, like drugs, alcohol and women. Also, he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. I can see a showdown coming between Tony and Chris, but can't imagine Christopher succeeding him.

I'd actually like to see Tony put into a position where he had to take out Christopher, under pressure from NY, like he did with Tony Blundetto. Much is being made this season about Christopher's entry into the movie business. Don't forget, Little Carmine, also dumb as tree bark, is his partner. Maybe something dramatic will come out of that.

One more day!

Although I warned my company that I was kicking everyone out at 8, I am setting the DVR, just in case.

I don't think that Christopher Moltisanti would be a suitable Boss for the DiMeo Family; he's simply not intelligent enough to be it. I think, however, that Silvio Dante would be a much more suitable Boss for the Family, although, he is not the most intelligent member of the DiMeo Family either. I think that Jackie Aprile was probably the most suitable Boss for the Family throughout the entire six seasons of The Sopranos.

I suppose his eligibilty is up! Tony might have pegged him as his successor, but from what we saw on the show, I doubt he would be a good boss. We watched Chris acquire a drug addiction, sober up and then relapse. Too unstable to be a boss IMO.

Chris as a boss....i wouldn't say never. But he wouldn't be ready now.It would take more time for him to learn how to control his emotions and get his head on track.

For me Silvio would be the best bet.I mean he's Tony's Consigiliere and has the brains to pull it off.

James Gandolfini was 37 years old during 1999, but Tony Soprano was 39 years old during that year.

Like mentioned earlier,we didn't get much of a chance to see much of him.But what i would gather is that Aprile, was a bit of a hot head.I think he would have run on emotions more than brains.I think he would have started a war with the other boss etc...
