The 2nd season has to be my favorite. I felt that the storyline ran the smoothest in this season, and I loved all the memorable events. I really enjoyed the small subplot with the Bevilaqua kid and his friend which escalated to their deaths, Christopher's near assasination, and Tony's near murder conviction. I really liked Richie Aprile's character and the tension he created. Also, his death was probably one of the most climatic points throughout the course of the entire show. And who could forget Big Pussy's turn to the Feds which ended in his whacking and had most of us choked with tears.

Season Five, perhaps because it's the freshest season so far (since I haven't watched an older episode since it finished). It's also, I feel, the most mature season to date, and one which explores the darker side of Tony more than any other season. Definitely the most psychological to date, and the therapy sessions are quite something (personal favourites, actuallly). The Test Dream is the best episode I've seen. Ever.

wow, im amazed to find i'm not the only one who didn't hate that episode.

I thought it was great, I always wished the 5 minute dream sequences. I thought the episode would go down as one of the greats, but when it was done airing, all I heard were negative comments and how much people hated it.

Season 5, personally not my favorite, but I absolutely agree with you that Test Dream is a good episode.

I also am one of the few fans of the Test Dream, and wish that more artistic and abstract eppisodes like that would come up much more often.

I personally liked 1 and 3 the best. I'm pretty sure I liked 2 the first time I saw it but I don't quite remember. My opinions on this topic are probably biased. Considering my status on all the seasons...

Season 1 - Rented the entire season twice, now own it
Season 2 - Rented it once, havent seen it since
Season 3 - Own it, watched it all at least 3 times
Season 4 - Rented it once
Season 5 - Saw it on TV

I've seen 1 and 3 the most, which is probably why I remember liking them the best. I feel like #1 is probably the best overall though. Seems like it's just great, nice and simple Sopranos, good as it ever was or will be.

SEASON 2

I woke up this morning with nothing to do and went to bed with only half of it done.

I'll admit, after I first watched the Test Dream, I was disapointed. But after watching the fifth season for the fifth time, I agree with you that it was one of the best episodes of the season. Like many people, I just don't think I understood it at first. I hope they have a commentary on this episode when the DVD comes out.

Anyway, I think the fifth season is better than the third season, and way better than the fourth. But One and Two are definatly at the top for me.
