I just saw this on HBO yesterday: the new Season Five promo. It is almost the same as the promo some posted the link to, the one that showed what looks to be some nasty stuff brewing between New York and North Jersey. This had a few more clips in it.

New stuff that I saw: it shows Tony getting angry and physical, reaching out to hit someone. In this promo, that someone is revealed to be Carmela.

It shows Tony and Johnny Sack meeting at night, outdoors, on what could be the boardwalk of Atlantic City or Coney Island. Tony is saying to him, "I want to work out a new power structure arrangment." Johnny looks at Tony contemptuously and scoffs, "What, you think this is the fuckin' UN?" I earlier guessed that with Carmine gone, Johnny would try to overtly bring The Soprano Family under his thumb. It looks like I might be right!

Most shocking of all, it shows Anthony Junior arriving home. Carmela opens the door for him. He walks in, and his appearance makes your jaw drop. He has obviously been beaten to hell by someone or someones. His face is lumped and swollen, and his eyes are swollen nearly shut. Something tells me this wasn't any schoolyard fight. Could this be a "message" sent to Tony by New York, or worse, the Russians?

Things look grim for Tony in Season Five.

I only saw it once, and I missed the very beginning of it. Sorry, I don't know the title of it.
It looked BAD for Tony.

Does anybody else agree that seeing Tony in such a bad shape makes for even more compelling viewing than usual? I mean, who knows how he is going to sort everything out from his marriage to his family to his Family. Everything's simply just caving in on top of him. Guess we'll find out who the loyal soldati really are this season.

Who's gonna be the first to be disloyal to Tony? I think Paulie is past it, as is Junior. Chris wouldn't. That leaves Silvio....? He's my fave character and his loyalty to tony makes him so, but anything's possible with The Sops!

Speaking of promos: NYTimes today has a full page ad showing cast members on a beach, with dead cast members buried halfway in the sand. There's also an interview with David Chase, in which he maintains his usual arrogance. What I liked about both items is that they show Steve Buscemi in his character role as "Tony Blundetto." He's one of the great underrated actors--can't wait to see him in "Sopranos." Plus, Frank Vincent finally making an appearance! Should be a good season.
