Hi,
I was reading that season 5 will start next September. Anyone hear differently? I sure hope they don't make us wait that long.

Paul

It's a possibility. Despite reports to the contrary, Season 5 hasn't been filmed yet.
I was hoping for March or April, but it doesn't look like it.

I shouldn't complain since up until this season, after finally getting HBO, I had to wait til it came out on video, but I say the "sooner the better." They should make a "Sopranos" movie in between, just to "wet our beaks" a little hu???

I wouldn't do a movie. That would make the show jump the shark.

Good point, DC. And good metaphor; you must be in entertainment. I only recently learned that "jump the shark," referring to the point when a television show goes downhill, originated when the "Happy Days" character Fonzie waterskiied over a shark. So I suppose it means a situation too unbelieveable, even within the context of the show, for the audience to tolerate; yes? And maybe a Sopranos film could in and of itself create such unbelieveability for subsequent television viewing. Thanks, DC; I'm stealing that phrase from you and Fonzie!

I'm pretty sure he didn't just come up with the "Jump the Shark" saying. There's a website called just that.....www.jumptheshark.com....and its constantly being promoted on the Howard Stern Show.

Of course I didn't come up with "jump the shark." One of my old girlfriends told me about the website a while back, and I've been spreading the term to my friends ever since. A JTS moment is the point in the show where things go downhill. Many common JTS moments are when a new child is brought in, characters who have been chasing one another finally hook up, or if Ted McGinley joins the cast of the show.

When movies for Beavis and Butt-Head, South Park, and X-Files were made, the shows were never really the same after that.

Actually, I recently read that they do plan on making a Sopranos movie.

As an extreme Howard Stern fan (hell, my name is howardsternisgod), I can say that the Jump The Shark shit is getting old, especially John Hein, the guy who always promotes it. The Jump The Shark website is hardly ever updated anyhow. And that would suck for The Sopranos to not come back until September...Isn't that when the current season started? When did the third season end?
