I don't think your questions are awkward at all, Turi. I do think that something might be going on with Silvio; he seems displeased and more secretive than in the past. The "family" seems to be discordant right now with inner bickering and financial trouble; Silvio may be looking for a crack in the structure to break through with his own agenda. My guess is that Tony's "family" is headed for its own demise this season, and we're witnessing the first crumblings of an avalanche.
As far as good ol' Ralphie, and Chris' drug habit: Along with Tony's complex character (family man one moment, new gumarra the next), this is I think in part what makes the show so interesting. We have lead characters who do things we do not like. Not even anti-heroes; they're "heroes" (in the sense of being lead characters) who are villains. They are killers, sociopaths. We are used to identifying with the "hero" or lead character of a story. In Sopranos -- as with GF -- we are faced with a challenge of this assumption. The contradictions are startling, provoking and, I think, make for very impressive television (ordinarily an oxymoron).
Enjoy!
