Welcome to you Don Mooney! I'm gonna assume that you mean Italian traditions and not "Mafia traditions". It is hard to tell since you posted on the Godfather thread instead of the General topics. That's ok tho.
If that is what you meant, I agree. I think it's great that every culture/ethnicity try to keep some of their customs alive. As an Italian, I try to keep some of my family's traditions going. It sort of gives you a sense of your roots that you can pass on.
