Ok, who's pre-ordered their DVD set from Amazon or wherever? And what day do you think we'll actually receive it in our hot little hands? Does the "release date" mean that Amazon will ship in on that date? Or would it be better/easier/faster just to go down to Blockbuster or somewhere and buy it on that day?

And fess up...how long do you think you will spend in seated in front of your television after you receive it? Eight hours? Ten hours? Twelve hours? More?

I haven't actually per-ordered it yet, i've just put it in my wishlist thingy... I doubt if it will arrive on the 9th, as I pre-ordered Hannibal (which was out on the 21st), and that didn't come to the 22nd, but could be because I didn't order it untill the 20th...

I'll probably watch all the extras first, and then go onto the films, although I wish GF2 wasn't on two discs, talk about being lazy!

You need one of those DVD players that takes more than one disk, then you only have to get off the sofa to get another beer and go to the loo.

Hannibals already out. I bought it on tuesday which was the 21st.

I've decided when I get my GF dvd collection im gonna stay in, maybe a few beers, nice meal and just 1 or 2 mates who enjoy the films as much as me. Too many people round will ruin my viewing pleasure, you know what its like.

I pre-ordered it for Next Day delivery, and they say the 10th. If the 8th wasn't Columbus Day (U.S.)/Thanksgiving Day (Canada), they probably would've shipped on the 8th. Bad timing I guess. Maybe I'll crack and buy a second copy the morning of the 9th

I don't know how anyone can not take that holiday week off to devote to this Collection. Besides a couple hours to get through the extras, you got 3 full-length audio commentaries (there's another 9 hours), then to watch the films, another 9 hours... Oh, it's gonna be terrible!

On the commentary thing, what's it like? Is it basically FFC talking over the dialogue, or between dialogue or what?

Sorry I don't know much about all these DVD extra thing-ys.

After watching Hannibal dvd there was an extra bit for the commentary. It's just like it says, the scenes play and if it's anything like Ridley Scott did, FFC will just provide his thoughts on it.

This commentary was quite interesting and usefull on the deleted scenes. I hope FFC does the same and say why some terrible things were left in and some amazing scenes left out.

Yeah, the commentary track is one of my favorite DVD features -

What it is is as the movie's playing -- the entire movie -- there's a special audio track that lowers the sound of the film and has Francis sitting there with a mic talking about what's going on at that moment (he's watching it, too). It's usually behind-the-scenes stuff or other interesting trivia.

Geoff, off topic here, but I don't get why Paramount would object to us trying to stage an event as a promotional tie in with the 30th anniversary. I would think they could use it to their advantage. Most entertainment companies are pretty fan-friendly when it comes to the real dedicated fan stuff. After all, look how much "free" advertising you're providing them with the buzz on this website.

Anyway, hope it works out...

They're all touchy about copyright and using their films as themes. I dunno, but i'm sure I could pull a few strings. To get vita to be my girlfriend that is, not for this godfather convention. j/k

I prepaid for mine at Suncoast - their deal was put down five bucks to reserve a copy and you get the set for $75 (which includes the down payment). I was counting on at least a C-note for that much movie.

Hey Turi you're right about those commentary tracks. Ridley's were great on Hannibal and Gladiator, and I would imagine FFC will have some great intro/retrospect to offer with TGF Trilogy. CAN'T WAIT!! I just hope I can watch all 5 discs before thefollowing Tuesday when Episode I DVD comes out.

I'll become a hermit when the trilogy comes out.

I'm just going to go out and pick it up from the store. I got the money in an envelope and all. I get restless in front of the TV however so I'll probably split it up on a few different days or something. I just hope that the extras are not a letdown, due to all the buildup.

Splitting it will make you enjoy it more.

Well, I told everybody I know I was gonna buy a dvd player when the Godfather Trilogy came out. Well, time to put my money where my mouth is I guess.
Bad part about it is...I need a new TV first, then a DVD player, then the Trilogy.
Maybe it'll be under my Xmas tree this year.
(I hope this doesn't mean i'm not a hardcore padrinophile like the rest of ya).
I'll have to get my dad a copy though, otherwise he'll wanna borrow mine all the time. And I wanna have my own copy
