Either legally, or voluntarily by him?

He must have made a few dollars from his involvement in Goodfellas, the Wiseguys book and his Mafia cuisine cookbook or whatever as well as TV appearences.

Legally: there is a fledgling body of law known as the law of restitution that prevents profiteering from criminal activity, by "disgorging the benefits" of the criminal acts. I'm not sure (and fairly skeptical) that any such law operates in the US, but it would be interesting to know if any of Hill's victims - or indeed the US State - had any claim to the money he has made from selling his story.

Morally: As much as I enjoyed watching Goodfellas and reading Wiseguys, I think it's fairly repugnant that Hill should be permitted to enjoy a wealthy celebrity lifestyle as a perverse reward for his life of crime.

Some states in the US do provide that a convicted felons cannot profit from their crimes after conviction--either by being prohibited from getting royalties from writing memoirs or cooperating with books and movies pertaining to their crimes, or being compelled to share such royalties with victims' families. In some states, victims' families can sue the convicted felon for damages as part of criminal proceedings. I believe that Sammy (Da Bull) Gravano was a test case on both of the above.
However, the operative word, as used correctly by you, is "fledgling." None of the above is universal here. Most jurisdictions take the view that "the people," through government (state, local or federal) have exclusive control over punishment and rehabilitation.
BUT, Dr., the US is probably the most litigitous nation in the world. Nothing prevents a family from suing a convicted felon for damages in a civil court, on their own. What's more, the felon doesn't even have to be convicted. Recall that OJ Simpson's victims' familes sued him for damages even after he was acquitted. They won. Now all they have to do is to collect...
