Hey,

You guys have heard about my italian side of the family, but on the other side is Lewis Dischner, a lobbyist and member of the teamsters union. He worked closely with my other side of the family in choosing of the leaders of the Teamsters Union. And later on my grandfather was charged with racketeering and tax evasion and was in prison for 7 years, where he was sentenced around the same time as Jimmy Hoffa.

Jimmy Hoffa, a famous figure in the history of the forming of the U.S Teamsters Union was closely working with my family and the mafia in the organzation of the union. Later he was charged and disapeered and is thought to be killed by the mafia. Jimmy Hoffa and my grandfather Lew were very close and we know his son personally and have kept in contact with him occasionaly.

MY POINT:
Has anyone ever heard of Jimmy Hoffa? And what do you know about him, tell me about it!

Heard about Jimmy Hoffa? Well, I think everybody on this board has. He was the frontman of the teamsters. Although I don't know much about him I suggest Turnbull will explain this.

Hoffa was not the "frontman" for the Teamsters Union. He was the leader of that union and a good one at that. He approved loans from the pension fund of the unions where the money was loaned to various organized crime figures and much of the money was used to build hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. These acts are what brought him under scrutiny by Attorney General Robert Kennedy. Kennedy made it his personal goal to go after Hoffa and the Teamsters and eventually Jimmy Hoffa was sent to prison. I do believe that he was found guilty of jury tampering. When Hoffa went to prison a man by the name of Frank Fitsimmons was put in as the President of the union. Fitsimmons (or Fitz as he was known as) was the be the "frontman" until Hoffa was released from prison. What happened over time was that the factions involved with the teamsters found it much easier to control and deal with Fitz as it was not as easy for them when Hoffa was in charge. Rumor had it that while Hoffa was in jail he was talking of his wanting to "clean up" the Teamsters union when he got out and take back the Presidency of the union. It turns out that Fitz negotiated a deal with President Nixon who in return pardoned Hoffa from jail. Only problem is that when Hoffa was pardoned he found out that there was a clause in the agreement that Hoffa would never run for office or be involved with the Union for so many years! Hoffa appealed this in the courts and the rumor was that the courts were going to overturn that stipultion in the pardon agreement and that Hoffa would be able to run for President of the union again! Being loved by the people that Hoffa represented for so many years, it was amost a lock that Hoffa would take back the Presidency. The factions involved with Fitz and the teamsters did not want this because they knew that Hoffa would not be a puppet for them, dancing on a string, so they in all likelyhood did what was neccesary to assure that Hoffa would NOT be running for office if the courts gave him his appeal! In 1975 Hoffa dissapeared.

This time I don't correct you

I couldn't think of an other word than frontman. But I meant the same. Just the leader of the group.

And good info btw!

Awesome, this is all secondhand knowledge to me, so it could always be a little off, my grandfather before his death told me alot about Jimmy Hoffa.

Hoffa had always cooperated with the Mafia, which helped him with strong-arm and was partners with him in investing Teamsters Union dues and pension funds in legal and illegal enterprises (including Vegas hotels--as in "Casino"). When Hoffa went to prison, Frank Fitzsimmons got cozy with President Nixon and threw his support to Nixon. In return, Nixon offered Hoffa a pardon, but with the proviso that he could not hold a union position until years after he got out of prison. Meanwhile the Mafia found Fitzsimmons easier to deal with than Hoffa.
Hoffa then began making loud noises about how he had lots of incriminating evidence on various Mafia people and would turn government informant unless they accepted his return to power. That's the generally accepted reason for his disappearance. Another (perhaps in parallel): He went to prison with Anthony (Tony Pro) Provenzano, a Mafia bigshot and Teamsters ally. Hoffa continued to get a huge Teamsters salary when he was in prison, but Provenzano got none. He and Provenzano argued violently in prison over this. Some people connect Provenzano's beef with Hoffa's disappearance.
For more on this, read "I Hear You Paint Houses" by Frank (The Irishman) Sheeran, a longtime ally of Hoffa's, who claimed he whacked Hoffa.

As I read this part good...nobody knows for 100% certain who killed Hoffa? Because I read on a other site that Tony Frankos killed him on instigation of Carol D'Allesandro

Turnbull...true or not?

He's buried under Giants Stadium.

I woke up this morning with nothing to do and went to bed with only half of it done.

Nah, that was a rumor put out to throw things off base. It has been strongly rumored over the years that he was actually ground up in a meat grinder and fed to dogs so that he could NEVER be found. Of course that was before DNA and blood traces.

His son is still powerful with the Teamsters Union around Detoit. You still see Hoffa for President stickers on signs now and again. It's pretty cool. The first time I saw one I was excited, then I found out it was Jimmy Hoffa, Jr.

Didn't anyone feel that it was strange that this person didn't give us any info about Hoffa, but claimed he knew alot from his grandfather?

The Hoffa disappearance rivals the JFK assassination for the quantity and variety of theories.
