with all the bosses and acting bosses getting put away or arrested lately do you think there is there a chance certain families may prosper seeing as how finding out who the new boss is will become harder for authorities. for example, nobody really knows who's running the Genovese family right now... some say Gigante from prison, some say Mario Giganta (vincents older brother), some still say Quiet Dom Cirillo. The Gambinos are rumored to be ran by Nicky Corozzo or his brother Joseph Corozzo, but who really knows with all the shit goin on lately. Joel Cacace just got 20 years so whos running the Colombos now? Can all of this be in the mobs favor for the future or just be an even bigger blow as usual. Joe Massinos gone and now Basciano (acting boss) is being held in a detention center as well. Thats one case that leads you to beleive LCN is fucked, lol.

In my own opinion I don't see the "5 families" ever coming back. I see two possible scenarios. Either while the fbi (forever bothering italians) is worried about those 5 families some new ones will be able to start up or along the same lines the 5 families become sort of a front or distraction for the people in the families to start up their own thing.

Law enforcement are stuggling to keep up with who's administrating the top Families. You could look at this as either there's real leadership problems in LCN or the Families are doing a good job of keeping quiet. Only the former is in any way logical and applicable. With more rats and informants than ever before it would be impossible for any secret rise of the mob.

Then there is the Cosa Nuova, the mysterious new form of the Mafia. Who, knows this could be pretty full proof and either help the current 5 families or help form new ones. We could be looking at another 80 years of the Mafia.

"I never wanted this for you. I work my whole life--I don't apologize--to take care of my family, and I refused to be a fool, dancing on the string held by all those bigshots. I don't apologize--that's my life--but I thought that, that when it was your time, that you would be the one to hold the string. Senator Corleone; Governor Corleone."
-Don Vito Corleone to his son, Michael

La Cosa Nostra will never die, but it will never be what is was back in the day, especially now that they arent romantisized some much in movies and the papers, and whatevewr honour they ever had is gone.

The Mafia is interesting, and a very intriguing topic. But if they die, its better for society. I love mob films, I love reading book on the Mafia, and playing videogames about the mob, but to say that the Mafia has benefited me would be a complete falsehood. I haven't seen my life get any better because of the Mafia. So if they're dead, good riddance.

Whats this? Is it a different organisation or is it just a different name? Is it just young guys looking for power quick (you know, with the name "new thing")?

I've never heard of the Cosa Nuova from any reputable sources. So far it's just internet speculation and I think it's a myth unless anyone can link a good source - and not some site some 15 year old has made.

You gotta remember, La Cosa Nostra was nothing but a "myth" for almost 80 years, before Eliot Ness got Al Capone, and J. Edgar Hoover started his investigations. I've read a few brief articles on Cosa Nuova, and at this point, I think they can only be considered a myth.

Yeah but where have you read them? From sites run by kids who here one thing from a mate and decide to dedicate a webpage about it. If some reputable source mentioned it I'd consider it. So far there's nothing of the sort or at least that I have found. I'd be quite happy to reconsider my position if someone would direct me to reliable information.
