What does anyone know about the British Mafia, are there any good stories you could share or a good website to visit?

Is there still Underworld activities nowadays?

Underworld activities are quite large over here but nothing to the scale or organisation of the Mafia in America. But it depends where in England you are. London has people of all ethnicities running illigal activities. Alot of Arabs and Asians criminals are importing illigal immigrants as one of their major scams. Upto 5/10K just for sneaking them in to England, then after that are pimped out as part of their "better life".

While gun crime has increased hugely over the last few years it would be innacurate to blame that on any organised crime because it's simply thugs and gangs. Guns are now fashion accessories to them.

You know I hate Dave Courtney, he still goes around doing talks at various places in the country that will have him. He's just living off his fame of knowing the Krays back in the day. I just wanna say look mate, you're no gangster, go home. But then he'd probably kill me.

Thank you please.

I wouldn't even call the "underworld" here a Mafia; it only degrades the Italian Mobsters. Saying that, I haven't read up on any Brit-Gang stuff, as it doesn't interest me in any way!

Moss side is one place i'd never dare venture to. Every time someone shuts a window there they're always trapping someones fingers. Or when they sell stockings they ask what size head.

Didn't you hear the huge drug bust yesterday. There is a huge underworld in England it just isn't organised on a national level. But i'm with Mick on this one, British gangsters don't interest me.

I heard about the drug bust, with the stash coming from South America it reminded me a bit of Scarface, so maybe there is a British version of Tony Montana who has a massive drug empire here.

You never know.

Of ourse there is organised crime in the UK, think about where the drugs come from.

it's not about British crime, but...

next year, a Dutch movie called "De Dominee" (the reverend) will be released. It's about Klaas Bruinsma, the greatest organized crime-boss Holland ever had, who was at one point even the biggest drugs-trader in the world. He is called the Reverend because he always wore long, black coats. He is known as an eligable, charming, good-looking, well-dressed and lovable Family man, despite his brutal way of doing business.
He was shot in 1991 in a hotel (in an old-fashioned set-up!)
