The classic numbers racket is based on a three-digit number that corresponds to the last three digits of the total money "take" at an area racetrack--this is a legitimate, published number. You bet on a three-digit number that you think will be the winner. If you picked the right one, the numbers "bank" pays you 600:1. These odds strongly favor the bank because there are 999 possible combinations. The benefit to you is that you can bet as little as a quarter at a time--and the numbers "runner" (the person who collects and pays off) comes to you.

In the last 10 years or so, the "Family" has gone into more legitimate "looking" businesses like setting up small brokerage houses. This serves twofold for them; 1) Front a legitimate business 2) Launder and wash money made from illegitimate operations like bookmaking, shylocking, etc. and put into the legitimate company.

Yes, I know, i've been gone for quite some time now, had to take care of some "family" business, but now Don Cardi is back, and stronger than ever! LOL!
