I've been meaning to post this for awhile, kept forgetting.

My question is this, is there a rule about Made Guys from one family switching to another family?

I'm asking this cause I swear I heard awhile back, about a made guy from one family made the switch to another family.

Well you probably could do it but that would be stupid! And you would also lose the families respect.

There are occasional family switches among made guys--for example, if there's bad blood within a family and a Don wants to avoid internal violence; if another family had a prior claim on a made guy before he got made, or if the made guy has a specialty that another family needs--and is willing to pay for.

one thing ive always wanted to know is how high ranking Mafioso find hitmen or people who are willing to murder for money and work under the boss and have to do anything he tells the buttonman or soldier to do. Im guessing the right amount of money could have anybody killed.

Often, having a "climber" kill someone is the boss's way of testing his loyalty. If he does the hit on orders (usually without additional compensation), it's considered the last step before he's made. In "Donnie Brasco," Pistone was ordered to whack Bruno Indelicato, which would have been the last step before he was made. However, many mobs use contract killers for important hits because they don't want any of their own implicated--they could be squeezed by the cops and rat out the higher ups.

I've never heard of a made guy switching families. Has anyone heard of one? There have been very few cases of associates switching families. Sammy The Bull Gravano was one of the rare cases. He was with the Columbos before being asked by the Columbos to have Sammy come over to the Gambinos.
What makes his case special was that sammy already had made his bones with the Columbos.

I believe that Jimmy "the weasel" Frattiano moved once or twice to different parts of the country and joined the existing family in that area.
