I'm no fan of the RICO act. I have a hard time believing that the Fed can say who can and cannot associate with each other. In my mind I have to think it sets a very dangerous precedent, and can easily find itself in a slippery slope. While today everyone is fine with keeping criminals apart, when does it extend to merely distasteful members of society. Look at how anti tobacco laws have spiraled now to include in California a sin tax on so called unhealthy food. NEVER, trust the Fed to judge for you what is right and wrong.....after all for the "public good" the drug war has put thousands of non violent people behind bars and wasted billions to outlaw marijuana while the killer tobacco is taxed and regulated.
Ok, I rambled a little bit...time to end this.

Welcome to the board and I am glad to see you have posted your first post. If you write it, I am sure someone not only will read it, but say something about it. That is what the boards are all about. Again welcome and happy posting.

Yes, welcome, Joey! Lots of lawyers would have agreed with you about RICO just after it was passed. They all confidently expected the US Supreme Court to strike it down as unconstitutional for some of the reasons you cited. Surprise: the court affirmed it. It's the law of the land. RICO has proven to be the only tool the Feds can use to put away mob higher-ups, other than income tax evasion.

I agree with you on this post. As I'm also no fan of RICO.

By the way welcome to the board.
