Does anyone know any current or past infomation on the Irish Mafia. Im part Irish you see and I wondered what these guys are like. I know Al Capone 'sorted' some Irish mob guys back in the 20's. Wasn't that the valantines day masicre or something?

The reason I brought this up was because I recently saw some of my Irish relatives one of them to me is the real life 'Godfather' but Irish.

It seems possible to me.

I totally forgot about the IRA, I was thinking more about any Irish mafia in the USA if there is any. I just thought there might have been as I heard something about Al Capone giving them a kicking.

To me the IRA are just a bunch of morons, ive never truly understood there motives and probably never will. Although they have proven to be a strong force in Northern Ireland.

Yeh, tahts for sure, they.ve proven to be a strong force for hundreds of years.

Once i was very intrested in the so-called
Nothern Ireland problematics. I've been several times in Belsfast and (London)Derry.

Of they are morons... i don't know, they look smart to me. But i don't know of it is very cleaver to fight for 400 years for a
worthless case.

I guess that youre from England Turi or am i wrong.

Currently, as far as I know there are the Westies in NYC. Hell's Kitchen section used to be an Irish immigrant enclave and still has some remnants left. The remaining Irish gangs are called the Westies. They are a nasty bunch. They've adopted the IRA use of 'knee capping' and they are used for hits by the Italian mafia. The Irish lost out to the Italian mafia in NYC during the '20s when basically whoever controlled the waterfront had the power.
For movies see 'State of Grace' and 'Sleepers' for mentions of the Westies.

Boston still has Irish gangs and the mafia (north end of Boston) has to do business with them because the city is still Irish controlled politically. Southie (south Boston) is where they are based, and a gang called the Winter Hill gang (not sure if I got the name right) was in cahoots with the mob and still do a lot of business.

Chicago's Irish gangs have pretty much died out. After Bugs Moran, the 'outfit', Chicago's Italian mafia pretty much ruled the city. (for movies see Millers Crossing which is based on the Capone/Moran rivalry).
