The Fina Brothers

Edward "Buddy" Fina and his brother, Francis, were two of the largest numbers bookmakers in South Philadelphia. The Finas layoff to Cosa Nostra backed bankers and thus receive a measure of protection from encroachment on their territory. The brothers pleaded no contest to federal charges of operation of an illegal gambling business in 1971 and were each given a six month jail term, placed on probation for five years and fined $5,000.
