Was 'Thief' worth checking out? No, I didn't think it was. I wouldn't recommend it. In my opinion Caan is a weak actor all across the board, especially in tough guy roles. His attempt at a Chicago accent was pathetic & came off as a Bridgeport guy with a Jersey accent which is obviously laughable & awkward.

The coolest/most authentic thing Mann ever did regarding Chicago was the television series 'Crime Story' starring Dennis Farina.
