Absolutely nothing more than a lunatic making a name for himself. No way it's mob sanctioned in anyway by anyone. There's no chance if it was sanctioned this guy lived. He would have been taken out himself the next day or two by who ever put him up to it. They know he's crazy and after the 15 minutes of fame wore off he'd be a risk to speak. Since he wasn't killed himself, my opinion is he's just a nut job.

It’s hard to predict or rationalize what goes through the mind of a paranoid schizophrenic. Anthony Comello likely became obsessed with Frank Cali for whatever reason and preyed upon him until he found the opportunity to snap. Both Comello and Cali were Italian-American Staten Islanders and lived in neighborhoods not far from each other. Yes, many celebrities live in NYC, but this kid has a history of psychotic behavior. Don’t forget a few months before killing Cali, he camped outside Mayor De Blasio’s house and tried to make a citizens arrest against him. The kid wasn’t right mentally. There’s no denying that.

The idea that LCN would use an unstable lunatic like this to take out a boss doesn’t seem likely. It would be too risky. Any number of things could go wrong. The nutjob could botch the hit, flip, get himself killed, accidentally leak information incriminating those who put him up to it, anything. This isn’t Jerome Johnson, who was used to shoot Colombo knowing full well the Italians would dispose of him on the spot. Anyone who looked at Anthony Comello’s Facebook after Cali was murdered knows the kid was out of his mind and not bright at all. All he posted about was getting high, rap lyrics and arguments calling his friends fa***ts. He was an immature, mentally deranged junkie. Nothing more. Not to mention his friends list suggested he had zero connections to organized crime.

I don’t believe for a second this was a mob hit. I want to believe it, just like everyone else here does, because it would somehow justify Cali’s death, or make sense of it. Unfortunately we live in a world full of crazy people who don’t make sense and Comello seems to be one of them.
