The Castellammare del Golfo cosca (or Family), based in the Trapani province of Sicily has always been at the very epicenter of the Mafia since its birth.

I had written a very extensive expose' awhile back about their massive influence on Cosa Nostra's early development in the United States, as well as their ancient and more current history.

I had also promised to update that expose' as new information about indictments and their activities became available.

Well several weeks back there was a massive raid and series of arrests against the current boss of the Castellammarese clan Francesco (Ciccio) Domingo, and nearly twenty other "Men of Honor" of their clan.

I have added this info to my previous story and thought the forum would enjoy a nice trip back in time to Sicily, as well as a look at their current status...so hold on to your hats and enjoy the trip! ... only thing I ask is to bring me back a nice Cannoli if you get the chance.

Something I also wanted to mention is that the surname Domingo is an ancient name in the Trapani province. Ciccio is not the first of his family to become a mafioso. In America we also had several Domingo's including the Maranzano gunman Sebastiano (Buster) Domingo of the famed Castellammarese War. He too was of Castellammarese heritage.
