At the end of the 2005 season Edgerrin James had accumulated 9,226 yards rushing in 96 games for an average of 97.0 yards per game. He had 64 rushing TDs, 11 Receiving TDs, 356 catches and 2839 receiving yards. His average yards per rush was 4.2. He had went to 4 pro bowls, and won the offensive rookie of the year award in 1999.

Edge was tagged with the Franchise Tag in 2004 and 2005. After the 2005 season he left for free agency and went to Arizona. The next season the Colts won the super bowl with Rookie Joseph Addai and Jame's longtime backup, Dominic Rhodes.

In 2006 and 2007 Edge has gained 2,381 rushing yards in 32 games for an average of 74.4 yards per game. He had 13 rushing TDs, 0 receiving TDs, 62 receptions and 421 receiving yards. His average yards per rush was 3.6.

An obvious drop off from his years with the Colts.

Did Edgerrin James throw away a Hall Of Fame career to chase Free Agent Money? Would the Colts have won Super Bowl XLI with Edge as their running back?

Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

He went to Arizona, so heck your argument might have merit. I sure wouldn't nilly willy want to play for one of the worst professional sports franchises in the world unless they "show me the money" and didn't Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character play for Arizona? So yeah, Edgerrin might have thrown away a Hall-of-Fame career to chase free agent money, but he still has time to put together several good seasons. He is 30 years old and is above the 10,000-yard mark, which means several good seasons left in him so therefore he still has a shot at Hall of Fame and...

Yes I see no reason why the Colts couldn't have the won the Super Bowl w/ the Edge in the lineup.

James, who played collegiately at the University of Miami, retired in 2009 with 12,246 rushing yards to go with 3,364 yards receiving. He was the NFL's offensive rookie of the year in 1999 and won the league's rushing title his first two years -- with 1,553 yards rushing in 1999 and 1,709 yards rushing in 2000.

Peyton Manning, who was James' teammate with the Colts for seven seasons, has praised James as a "complete back, a complete player.''

In addition to being an elite rusher, James had 433 career receptions and had great ability as a blocker.

"Edgerrin James is one of the greatest players this league has ever seen and absolutely deserves this enshrinement in Canton," Colts owner Jim Irsay said in a statement. "Edge was the textbook definition of an every-down running back who could do it all, and we knew he was special from day one. ... I know he helped put that shine back on the Horseshoe, and all of Colts Nation is extremely proud today."
