I just saw this film today. Agree with Hollander that Favino gave a great performance. Currently showing in NYC at Film Forum and at the Walter Reade Theater (Lincoln Center)
Had an option to purchase or rent and regret the purchase. Not a bad movie but not a "Palermo/Corleone" mafia movie. Very little around the Corleone characters and purely focused on Buscetta and Contorno emotional struggles. Buscetta is an outright liar and soldier. Purchase Men of Honour by Tim Shawcross who did investigative analysis of Buschetta's movements and the events associated, at the time prior to his arrest. And he did not take enough poison to kill himself. Buscetta committed multiple murders - maybe a double in Miami to cover his tracks - and was up to his neck in drugs; all of which he denies. It's a great read with some history of the Corsicans and Provence mobsters.
