What is the Jersey Mob|DeCavs state? Do they have any young up in coming hoods with a reputation on the street?
I mean all their listed capos are like 70¬90 years old
Even their boss Charles Majuri is like 80
What are their power in Northern NJ
What are their total net Worth do you think?
And also, who Would you say are doing better today, the DeCavs or the Scarfo Family?
The Philly/Scarfo Family got many operations and two or so crews in NJ

Could you see a future where Philly and Jersey merged like Boston and Providence once did?

Also any updated charts Would be greatly appreciated!

All five NY families have crews in North Jersey, and so does Phily. I imagine as the pie gets smaller there's not enough pieces to go around and it could be there just no longer is any for the DeCavs. They never had control of that region. They always operated among New York crews.

The DeCavs are still around with rackets.

They’re still tied at the hip to the construction industry here in Jersey through GC’s. That DeCav Stango crew bust in 2015 Toms River Area was a brokester Crew, none of those idiots were making any real money. They still have a solid presence in Elizabeth and Toms River areas of Jersey. A lot of the old timers live at the Jersey Shore these days in Toms River Area.
A lot of the guys own real estate and legitimate businesses as well.

They traditionally were strongly involved in a lot of the industrial places around Elizabeth and Linden. I would assume they still have some involvement in the plants that are still there, I can't picture them just disappearing.

I remember when I was a kid, there was an old man in my neighborhood who worked at a factory up in Linden. He knew I was getting into reading the Mob books. One day he showed me some slips of paper with numbers written in magic marker. He said that he was playing the numbers at work. I was afraid to ask who they were from. Probably he didn't know what family anyway. They had to be with someone, probably Decavalcantes.

Fleming_Ave, I think he might have worked at Brown & Co. It had a large number game there by the Decavalcantes.

There was an article "NY have 5 families,NJ seven" or something similar.
The decavalcantes even in it heyday wasnt powerful with the Genovese that controlled the docks and the Lucchese faction that made more money and so on.
But at least they share rackets with NY but after in 2000 Riggi son in law flipped they lost more of it.

I'm pretty sure it was General Motors. The factory was torn down 10 years or so ago.

Don't trust wikipedia on this things, this is the article who wiki reffer, its an old Capeci article from 2006.

The DeCavalcante Family
40 to 50 members
Boss: Giovanni “John” Riggi, 79
Underboss : Vacant
Consigliere: Vacant
Six years ago, after decades as the ugly stepchildren of the New York mob, DeCavalcante mobsters thought they had finally achieved proper respect from the vaunted Five Families. They had killed a suspected informer for John Gotti and had joint rackets with New York wiseguys. As a crew of the Garden State gangsters drove to a sit-down with New York mobsters, they were taped by the FBI talking about their newfound status—a rise in fortunes that seemed to be reflected on TV.

“Hey, what’s this fucking thing, Sopranos. Is that supposed to be us?” asked soldier Joseph “Tin Ear” Sclafani.

“What characters. Great acting,” responded capo Anthony Rotundo. Unlike Tony Soprano, the DeCavalcante leader has been in prison since 1990. In 2003, John Riggi pleaded guilty to ordering murders both before and after his incarceration, agreeing to take ten more years in prison. Since 1999, nearly three dozen wiseguys and wannabes, including the family’s consigliere and seven capos, have bit the dust on racketeering, murder, and other charges.

The federal onslaught has been helpful for one old soldier, Joseph Miranda, whose family ties go back to patriarch Simone “Sam the Plumber” DeCavalcante. Decades ago, after Miranda robbed another wiseguy, Sam the Plumber spoke up for him at a sit-down and saved his life, according to FBI documents. Miranda, 81, a family loan shark, owns a bar on First Avenue. For years, he’s been griping about not being promoted to capo. Recently, sources say, he jumped a few spots and was elevated to acting boss. He didn’t have much competition, and he doesn’t have much to lead, but, as one law-enforcement official says, “this week, he’s the boss. Next week, who knows?”

They are their own family. They are under the Gambino flag, but there has been talk of them trying to have the Genovese crime family represent them a some years now. Whoever the boss is, we will more likely find out which family they are aligned with.

Vacari you probably answered this before but what was Profaci's interest in Jersey again? He first tried to take someone out and then was influential in splitting the Newark faction of the Jersey family among the NY families.

yaeh i think there family would be told they can no longer induct new guys then being asborbed into the gambino family. theres no way the other 4 families would allow the gambinos to just patch over, almost should be the word 40 50 guys. it would make them the strongest family in the usa . from the nicky skins tapes and that guy stagno a few years ago it seems there still inducting new guys and the family is stable. scoops licata wonder why that guy charles majuri was elevated to boss but that was 8 yrs ago he could be dead. i trhink them being under the gambino flag is exaggerated. the probaly ask them for oks on new memebers. so is the new england family or philly under the genovese?

I dont remember who (maybe Charles Stagno) said: "were under the fucking Gambinos?". They have the crumbs because for sure a wiseguys prefer to be made and make money with the jersey crews of the 5 families or from Philly that stay with them damn they arent owners even in their home.

Their traditional neighborhood of Peterstown in Elizabeth NJ I believe still has some Italian Americans living there. They have a website! http://peterstownnewjersey.com/

I don't know about that, Furio. I think they were pretty entrenched in the Union County area, they owned construction companies and other legitimate businesses, I just can't see them all retiring. They must be staying low key, avoiding violent stuff that would attract attention.

I think the current line of thinking that they aren’t allowed to induct new members is false. Although they need permission it’s rare for anyone to get turned down. The problem with NJ isn’t the lack of recruiting pool, it’s too much drug dealing.

Yeah Whitey’s “crew” was pushing coke in the Toms River/ Brick area at the shore.

That retart crew was a joke, you should have seen them in action, all severely over weight and sweating like a pig wiggers out in baggy clothes on a hot summers night at a Jersey Shore club/tiki bar....

Theres a book about the decavs written like 10 15 yrs back after they all flipped its great. They have a small family with like a cap number of guys 50 60 ect. The nyc 5 families had a meeteing with there bosses and said you cant recruit nyc guys anymore you got the whole state of New Jersey. It worked they only recruit from the state it makes sense. The bullshit about them bowing down to NYC i think is bullshit
. A killer or tough guy can come from anywhere. Theres ufc fighters from cornfields in Montana. Thats a myth.

The sit down regarding the Decavs no longer making anybody from NYC was after the Rago situation on Mullberry St. After that it was Jersey or South Philly only. I did time with Greg, sold him my 2 man cell before I left Fairton. Good guy, just a bit obnoxious. In good shape for an old guy too. He’s home now, doing well.
