wow that means they are less then 80 do they have any young guys to replace the old ? whoever going to be the boss needs to do some massive rebuilding They never had more than 100-110 made men at their peak. While this is true, at their peak they were making money hand over fist with the gasoline scam among other businesses and rackets they had I’m sure.

The trouble was that after the third colombo war more orena supporters becomed independent and stop pay money to the family, russo tried to take them back to the family plus the colombos are less respected because a Gambino stabbed a colombo wiseguy an for dont retaliate the colombo asked 100K - 150K that anyway wasnt paid. The other side is that the colombo was always confinated in Brooklyn. Anyway better the colombos that philly or the decavalcante.

there is anything to rebuild in the family ? or just surviving the modern age ? in terms of recruiting i guess people will always prefer to join the small and low-key family's the westside will only take the best guys so it's not easy to join them at all the gambino's are too
I bet there is maybe 60 guys active making $ with buttons. There is a reason the Colombos have constantly been talked about being absorbed by other borgatas.
Killing Cutulo could have been the beginning of the end. Big mistake killing someone who would have been good enough to be in the Genovese admin. IMO if the capos really want to rebuilt the ranks and prestige of the borgata must cut any ties with the Persico clan and choose a young and smart boss that are respected by the other families like gambinos did kicking away the Gottis and give the leadership to the sicilians. yeah they need to make some big changes right now to rebuild themselves and like you have said furio they have to do what the gambino's have done and it's to make a huge changes and have a brand new administration and keep forward and forgot the past time is changing the mob is not how it's was so they need to adjust themselves to the new changes and environment.

I can't see why the capos would vote for another Persico especially one (Allie Boy) that is in jail for life or Teddy Jr. that would be nothing but a heat score. I agree, I think Carmine Persico ruined his family by having his sons/bloodline as future bosses & ignoring guys (Wild Bill Cutolo & Little Vic Orena) that maybe would do better for the family than his sons, or nephews.

Holy shit, they need young guys. Most of the captains/Administration 65+ y.o How do guys even get recruited these days isn't the Colombo and philly families pick the worst / rats? Yeah Colombo Crime Family has had the largest number of high ranking turncoats of all the NYC Families. And things isn’t like how it was maybe 60-70 years ago where there was a much larger recruitment pool in the Italian American Neighborhoods. Now, those sources have all dried up, the Italians that lived in NYC slowly moved down to Staten Island or Long Island during the 70s & 80s. Basically they can find guys in those two areas but they won’t be near as good as were the guys from back in the day, earning capabilities speaking. And Italians have Americanized now, 4th & 5th generation Italians are the younger guys now 15-25 y.o and they don’t seem too keen on joining or holding omertà till death if they do make it. On the other hand, The Gambinos are bringing in Sicilians by the boat loads 😄.

There's a guy who would be a formidable pick to run the Colombo's, if not a definite top 3 kind of guy. Only argument against is the FBI is sure to have a hot nut for him. I doubt they wanted him to ever see the streets again, and are going to try their best to send him back. He played a part in having a police officer and prosecutor killed!! He has it coming if he decides to climb the ladder. * William Aronwald, prosecutor and supervisor for the US Department of Justice 1971-77, he was also prosecutor for New York County District Attorney Office in late 60s, Joel arranged his murder on behalf of Carmine Persico in 1987 however his father was killed who was a judge for the Manhattan NYC parking violations bureau at the time then he ordered 4 of the hitmen involved killed, 2 of them from the Lucchese and Bonanno family * Government said he ordered the 1987 murder of retired NYPD Carlo Antonino because Joel thought he was weak link and might cooperate * involved in 2-shootouts with captain Greg Scarpa in early 1990s * He possibly ordered the 1997 murder of NYPD officer Ralph C. Dols after Dols married his ex-wife, being a cop and Hispanic didn't help him If Joel gets out next year after serving 16 years and the culmination of his history he must of had about a dozen guys killed/ordered plus he's nearly 80. He would make a good boss but 2 much heat, a good advisor is more realistic.

Jesus Christ I knew he done all of that and more but now you’ve explained it like that it shows this guy has done loads of dirt! Well if you’re gonna be a mafioso you gotta put in work.. They are killers. Imagine the amount of guys still on the street that have a graveyard behind them. Joey merlino springs to mind. All the media stuff makes you forget that this guy is a stone cold killer. No wonder feds will never let it lie
