If they want to get revenge - start with his POS brother first

Mr. Cali’s murder was not the Comello family’s first brush with the law. Mr. Comello’s older brother, Alfonso, is currently facing felony assault and burglary charges in Richmond County for an incident in Staten Island last September, charges that he denies and is fighting.

According to a criminal complaint, Alfonso Comello entered the home of a woman he knew on Sept. 25 with an accomplice and beat the woman’s face with the handle of a knife. The beating was violent enough to knock out several of the woman’s teeth.

The woman, whose name was redacted in court papers, was tied to a bed as Alfonso Comello rummaged through drawers and demanded money. He has pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Arthur Louis Aidala, said Alfonso Comello categorically denied the charges.

Maybe both brothers are mob wannabees. If we don´t know the motive we cannot come to a conclusion.

I was reading somewhere mikey scars said cali wasnt involved with drugs and was against. Makes sense why they cant pin shit on him except taking a kickback from the nascar track that was gonna go on staten island. Weird dom cefulo was a big herion guy in the 80tys but we know today the italians cant compare to the dominican and mexican drug lines. Maybe castellano vision came true after his death 30yrs the gambinos are more white collar then anything else.

It's often said though that the South American heroin pushed by Mexican, Dominican, Colombian, Puerto Rican, Cuban...groups is rather garbage compared to the Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian heroin trafficked by Italian, Balkan and post-Soviet groups. There must be a big enough demand for the latter as well.

A couple of George Foreman's sons, both named George Foreman, were from Sacramento. I had summer school with one of them. Quiet kid. Which is odd considering his father's personality.

"Organized" crime needs an organized society to feed on. If people are willing to just walk up and shoot mobsters now, and don't care about the consequences...

John Gotti supposedly said: If they know who we are, they will fear us. After Cali was shot they were interviewing his neighbors on the news here, none of them knew who the hell he was, if you asked the average person in NY before this happened do you know who Frank Cali is 10 out of 10 would have said who? You mean Frankie Valli?

Gotti was kind of an ass, too.

Cali shouldn't have gotten involved with his niece's situation. Look, I understand how close many people are with their nieces, but I'm sure she had several other uncles, uncles without the responsibilities involving hundreds of people and millions of dollars that Cali had, who could have dealt with this. And if she didn't, Cali could have sent someone else to deal with it, particularly someone far enough down the totem pole that it would never lead back to him.

I think of Tony Soprano telling Paulie, "When are you gonna get it? You're a part of something big"... It's a business. A CEO never does a security guard's job.

Yeah I thought the police said it was over the niece but maybe not. So, you know, if the shoe fits. There was a discussion in here the other day about defending nieces and things like that. I was mainly speaking to that. What a dumb thing for someone on his level to involve himself with if that is the case.

I understand, but we don't know the niece's story, and we may never know it. Comello seems like a nut , so it's not a stretch to think he may have been stalking a woman. A young woman living on Staten Island NY related to a high ranking mob guy might not feel comfortable going to a police station to file a restraining order, she would talk to the uncle. I am sure Cali never thought it would play out like it did. Most people (even mobsters) would not think of slapping someone like Cali, much less clipping him. He must have thought talking to the kid would be the end of it.

Carmine from Top Tomato was shot and nothing was done about it, Tough Tony's son was gutted like a fish, nothing was done about it, and that was when there was more of a presence than there is now. In solitary lock up, no one can get him, if they put him in gen pop, then the Tyrones of the world will get him.

A guy in prison who had nothing to lose killed him, same could happen here, the question that was asked was "Do you really Think the gambinos are just gonna let this slide?"
The same things was being said over 13 years ago: mob war coming, nobody can touch a made guy, especially a Capo.
Patty was released on bail right back to Staten Island and The Gambinos didn't do a thing.

December 10, 2005

AN EX-COP ACCUSED OF SHOOTING a reputed mobster in the gut at his Top Tomato store was released on bail yesterday - but he might be safer behind bars. Gambino family bigs are furious at the "renegade" attack on alleged capo Carmine Sciandra by retired officer Patrick Balsamo, who brought two Bonanno wiseguys along for protection, investigators said. Police fear Balsamo's rampage - sparked by his belief Sciandra's brother groped his 18-year-old daughter, a cashier at the Staten Island store - could spark a deadly feud between the crime syndicates. "There is a great deal of concern that this could spiral into a mob war," one law enforcement source told the Daily News. "This was a renegade act. No one is supposed to lay a finger on a guy like Carmine Sciandra. The made guys know that. They are appalled that this hothead ex-cop mucked things up the way he did. smile

" Surveillance video of the incident shows that when Balsamo whipped out a pistol outside Top Tomato on Wednesday night, one of the Bonanno henchmen appeared to lunge for the weapon to stop him, sources said. Balsamo was so out of control that after he shot Sciandra in the stomach, he tried to blow away an innocent employee who ran to the boss' aid - but his gun jammed, sources said. The Bonanno cronies, Michael Viga, 52, and Ronald Carlucci, 62, fled the scene in their Lexus, leaving their buddy to fend for himself at the scene, sources said. He later surrendered to cops. The hulking Balsamo, 49, had nothing to say after being arraigned on first-degree assault, weapons possession and criminal mischief charges and posting $5,000 cash bail. "He's a father looking out for the interests of his daughter," said his lawyer, Felix Gilroy. Sciandra, 52, whose family owns the Top Tomato discount produce chain, is in the hospital and also has refused to cooperate with the investigation. Every time a detective enters his hospital room to question him, "he hits the morphine button," one source said. "He doesn't want to talk no way, no how.

" The bloodshed was touched off by a complaint from Balsamo's 18-year-old daughter, Maria, that her boss, Salvatore Sciandra, sexually harassed and then fired her. "Salvatore would tell the girl, 'Hey, you don't have to work the register. I can give you money for clothes," a cop source said. "Then he tried to get her to come into the trailer at the store to change into the clothes.

" When her father heard, he charged over to the Victory Blvd. store with Maria, his son Anthony, 27, and Viga and Carlucci in tow. Salvatore Sciandra wasn't there but they spoke by phone in an office, and Sciandra reportedly screamed, "She's a liar.

" The two Balsamo men then marched out of the office with bats in hand and started smashing the front windows and a register, police said. Meanwhile, Carmine Sciandra was summoned to the store and he ran up to Patrick Balsamo outside with his own bat in hand - and got shot in the stomach. "Carmine falls to the ground and Balsamo turns his gun on this poor schlep employee who was with Carmine. Lucky for this guy, Balsamo's gun jams. He tried to shoot him four times," a law enforcement source said. Carmine Sciandra, who lives in a palatial hillside mansion on Staten Island, is a reputed Gambino captain once mentioned as a possible successor to the late Dapper Don, John Gotti. His brother, Salvatore, was indicted in 2002 for allegedly using a Bronx Top Tomato as a front to sell hot goods, and Salvatore's wife was busted for car-insurance fraud. Balsamo racked up numerous commendations in his eight years on the force but came under fire in 1990 after he and his partner fatally shot a 20-year-old man 12 times in Brooklyn. He retired in 1993 with knee and back injuries from three patrol car accidents and won a lawsuit to obtain Social Security disability benefits.

An associate shot a Capo, and not just any Capo, a well respected one, overseeing a big time earning crew, If that can go unchallenged then anything can go unchallenged, I would say in the 80s or 90s that guy would have been target practice, but that would be wrong, because in the 80s and 90s he would have not even dared, but this Thing is so far gone, F.B.I. knows, Gambino squad cut down to like 5 guys and they were assigned another Family to watch over.

Crazy Joe wasn't that crazy after all when he said these guys are the future of organized crime:
