Did the old school classic Burgers and Dogs today.
We had so many sides with it, it was gourmet.

Tomorrow will be Chicken and Ribs.
Will post some pics.

Labor Day is a great slow roast BBQ day.
Slow & Easy all day,

Hope you approve Hood.

Q'd these for two hours

The Potatoes were my wife Idea, I usually do corn but she insisted...they came out great

I wanted to wrap the potato in foil she said no" just place them on the grill, stabbed them with fork, brushed with olive oil and covered with S&P
They were fantastic.

Ribs cooked 2hrs , taters 1hr 15min.

For me the trick is controlling the temp of grill ( 300 degrees) and turning only twice on both the meat and potatoes,,,,, however the last half hour I moved the potato to the main level of grill and the ribs to upper.

Another tip is..... dry rubbed the ribs with cajun spice for direct roast for first hour,,,, then applied bbq sauce ( sauce I souped up) the last half hour of Q'in, flip those a few times while the potato finishes or you cigar is done. Take your time,,,,,slow and Low gets it done best.

I'd like to use a charcoal grill, but my area is way too dry to use one safely. I make due with a small gas grill. Gets the job done.
Costco had an electric-fired pellet grill on sale. It's a smoker with a hopper filed with pressed, flavored wood pellets in a hopper on the left. Grill is in the center. Below it is a little receptacle for the pellets that are ignited by an electric spark. At the right is a smokestack and a bucket to catch the fat runoff. What's nice is that you can set the temperature low (like 150 degrees) and genuinely barbecue, rather than grill, your meat without having to tend a fire and turn the meat every few minutes.
Anyone here have any experience with one of these grills?

Gas Grill perfect .... certainly if you live in a dry High yield open fire alert area.

We always abide by the open fire alert and typically use gas grill.
No matter which method you use, slow and low is the best cooking method and low flame or burn is best
When I do Chicken / Ribs I cook low for 1 1/2 hr at 2 - 250 degrees........... can even get it down lower if cooking larger size cuts of any meat

I will ask around if anyone using the pellet grill.

Speaking of steaks, DP: Do you live near a Costco? They have the best meat. Their Choice steaks are great, but their Prime steaks (esp. ribeye) are worth every penny. Nothing better!

Yes T, we have Costco and Bj’s , we shop both. My wife and her girlfriend use each others cards and agree, great meats...these actually came from Bj’s.

I will have them pickup the Ribeyes.

Hoodlum,
I had some Lowe's grille 3 burner that I paid $90 for because of a dent. It worked well and lasted about four years. I kept it covered and in my lenai by the pool. Then my wife bought me the Weber. No problems, the parts are warranteed, and everyone I knew that has one, has had them for a long time. I think mine was $700 a few years ago. It's a genesis series. Then for this past Christmas, she got me the pit boss Austin XL pellet grill. You can smoke or grill with this guy. The only downside is it requires electric. I was having a party and getting ready to throw a brisket on and a storm came and took the power out and delayed me a couple hours. I think the pellet grill it's cheaper than the Weber. $200-$300 grill kept clean and out of the weather should be fine.

Those sound great, all work fine, it’s all about the person behind them….my Da cooked bbq on a bunch of bricks and stones, you gotta know your heat and your meat.

Chicken needs to cook slow and low , beef fast and furious, pork long and strong.

I have a Weber Genesis gas and a Weber classic charcoal, will post pics.

They work great but all bbq needs an attentive cook.

I have a little tabletop grill, runs on small propane bottle, that I bought from Walmart about 12 years ago. Perfectly good grill for our modest needs. It's way too dry and windy here for us to cook with charcoal--dangerous. I thought of buying a pellet grill for real BBQ-ing, but we don't really need it. Several good BBQ restaurants here (this is the Southwest, after all).

That sounds perfect T, I am sure you have some authentic Q masters nearby…I have a few favorites as well local and love leaving it to them sometimes.

I was hoping to do some wings or ribs myself this Holiday weekend but we are guests away from my grills and will be enjoying the fare elsewhere whatever it is.

We have red flag days here often, they are days when no outdoor fire pits or open bbq pits should be used due to high winds…I follow it however notice many in our area do not.

Happy Q’in to all celebrating the 4th of July.
