New Orleans police found evidence that potentially links the shooting that occurred outside a bar Saturday night, killing three people and injuring seven others, to gang-related violence.

Police have evidence suggesting the two shooters — described only as men clad in hoodies who opened fire on a crowd outside a daiquiri bar three miles from New Orleans French Quarter — are affiliated with a gang. Police say the pair fired at random into the bar crowd, but targeted a male victim in specific when a shooter stood over the victim and shot him several times execution-style.

Using a rifle and a handgun, the shooters killed two men and a woman and injured five men and two women who were standing outside the businesses of Jazz Daiquiris and Chicken & Watermelon. One of the seven injured is in critical condition while the other six are in stable condition, said Police Chief Michael Harrison.

The man believed to be the target of the attack was Jeremiah Lee, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reports. Lee was running from the shooters and ran into a group of people before falling in front of the Chicken & Watermelon eatery, the owner of the business told the New Orleans Advocate.

Lee was involved with the gang 3NG, which stands for Third and Galvez streets, where the group operated in Central City's Hoffman Triangle neighborhood, the Advocate reports.

After the rampage, the two shooters fled on foot northbound on South Claiborne Avenue. An investigation is underway to identify the suspects, although suspect names have not yet been released. The victims' names will be released after their families are notified and autopsies are complete, according to the New Orleans police department.

Are N.O. gang independent? Or are they affiliated with other regions of the country?

Mainly local with some ties to L.A affiliations. It's noticeable in the drug trade. A Crip was sentenced for large scale trafficking last year, L.A to L.A.

What was up with Cash Money and Bloods? Was that just a show biz thing or are they really affiliated? I guess it has to be real because if active people think someone's affiliated with something, they might do something.

That's a dead horse Oak. I'm assuming the association with Mac 10 back in the early 00s but presently I don't have a clue. They been spoken about numerous times and a confrontation happened in Los Angeles. Now what most people don't realize is that New Orleans do have Crips & Bloods but not the influence like Shreveport street scene.

I remember seeing some youtube about a decade ago where supposedly Wayne is in an SUV surrounded by Crips. I always wondered about its authenticity but I guess it was real. I'm assuming guys take some money on their way to the top and have to return the favor when they get famous. Why else would they put their lives in jeopardy when they have it all? Anyhow, interesting info about N.O and Shreveport. That has always been such a corrupted region of the country, going back to Huey Long, then Marcello. The ethnicity of the players changes but the game doesn't.

Chicago gangs like GD and Folks were big in Arkansas in the 90s. I remember that HBO documentary Banging in Little Rock where a lot of neighborhoods were claiming one of those two, along with many claiming Blood or Crip. Seems like the big cities on the perimeter of the country were fighting for turf in middle America at that time.

Bloods have the larger presence in Little Rock. Crips & GDs are in the same section of the city. VLs are in another section along with BDs & Stones. North Little Rock ( surburb) on the other hand is majority BDs then GDs.

I get it that they call themselves gangs but these guys are broke and commit violent street crimes against injocent men, woman, and children in their own neighborhoods. Using the word “ crew” intimates them being like the mafia which they are not.
I dont know guys, this is confusing.

Most of those guys don't call themselves gangs just cliques ( aka crews/posse). Local authorities refer to them as gangs and media too. They're not broke and vast majority of the violent crimes is against others in their business. Crew is highly ambiguous term in the global underworld. You have organized crews that operates in rackets then those loosw knit freelance teams for fraud/theft/etc to crews apart of syndicates/gangs/networks.
